I have 2 Roguelike characters in mind and would like your archetype/ability score comments on what i have thus far.

Character 1 is a changeling Courtesan/Dancer who may actually be a bard/rogue or a rogue/bard or a single class of either. With the Whispers Bard the right flavor, or the Thief compared to the lackluster Assassin Archetype. How would you build her to around level 10 or so. With the DMs permission im also going to run her as a mute, Or at the very least very selective speech. Although a behind closed doors assassin would be how i picture her, dnds more likely combat scenarios are less personal. Thus in those situations she is very much reliant on getting close doing the damage and getting out. Whilst in the public eye your standard 'if its not nailed down' type thief but at the same time able to put on a show.
Currently thinking 8 / 15+1 / 14 / 10 / 12 / 13+2

Character 2 is a Warforged Skirmisher, a behind enemy lines type who will specialise in ranged combat. Im thinking Scout to match her military background Perhaps also taking a dip into Ranger? With far less flair or personality that Character 1 i doubt she will have much in the way of Charisma, not to mention a serious case of survivors guilt. I love the idea of taking scouting ahead taking pot shots and then drawing combatants back towards the party. Could be fun as i havent played a ranged character before. Again, how would you build to around 10? Archetype? When (If) i go into Ranger at what levels and how many.
Currently thinking 14 / 12+2 / 14 +1 / 10 / 14 / 8 not optimised but reflects the physicality of the warforged i think.

I would say Swashbuckler would perfectly fit this character if you ask the DM if the Panache feature can be change to performance from persuasion and refluffed to distract them with your movements rather than words. Works much better for the instances where a solo kill is required as well. I'm not convinced there's a great deal of synergy between multiclassing bard and rogue so the real question is how much magic do you want vs how much sneak attack.

Also consider just being an arcane trickster I guess.

Gloom stalker 5, rogue 5 is decent and would seem to fit the theme.

For the first, I wanted that assassin feel but felt the assassin archtype abilities feel like just roleplay aspects that could be done anyway. So hence bard with the whole performance aspect tying in to character history. Perhaps that part is best left to backstory and focus on thief rogue. Trickster doesnt feel like her.

As to the second definitely not gloomstalker. Thematically doesn't work. Id lean hunter if I went down the multiclass road just not sure how much or when.
