I have a sorcerer in a upcoming game that chose the Runechild Sorcerous Origin.
This in and of itself is fine, but things get kinda janky when we start using the sorcery points instead of spell slots (optional rule from DMG).
The intent is that Runes charge whenever the sorcerer uses sorcery points (either to convert into spell slots or for metamagic). But since we are using the optional Sorcery Point rune that spells are cast with points instead of slots, this feature activates too frequently. Is there any clean solution to make sure the runes don't charge so frequently, and work instead as intended, with the sorcery points instead of spell slots optional rule. Ideally they would charge just as often as they would when using spell slots.
Would this rule account for a similar frequency of charged runes?
Whenever you cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you charge a number of runes equal to the level of the spell you cast.
