Simply put: Bass is the funkiest instrument. There are countless examples; Stanley Clarke, late Talking Heads, Sly & The Familly Stone, Parliement, for heavens sake! Funky!

Yes, I know. everyone is entitled to one useless thread once in a while

Is this a Discuss thread? A question? Are we meant to start making lists of funky bassists?
The confusion is killing me! Or maybe it's just confusing. Hard to tell. Because I'm so confused.

Personally my favorite bassist is Krist Novoselic, then again I'm incredibly biased.

Nice choice, but it seems kinda skimpy.

I prefer something with a little more meat on it

Yes has funky bass? All I got from them was a vaguely messianic singer with odd vocals. AWESOMETACULAR band though.

While I admit that Yes and Chris Squire are fully capable of playing anything the want, and speaking as a man who owns the vast majority of the music they released, Chris Squire doesn't strike me as a very funky bass player. Possibly The Fish, or maybe something off thier first album was a tad funky, but not to the degree of, say, James Brown or Parliament.

James Broooown? James Broooown! Yo!
