I haven't quite fully figured out all of the details of this and it will probably need rewording but I think I have a good starting point to make Heal a more useful skill for everyone.

DC 15 Heal check: For each point you exceed the DC you may convert 1 point of the patient's damage into 1 point of non-lethal damage.

I was thinking this would take either 1 or 10 minutes, with no retries while the patient has non-lethal damage and deals 1 non-lethal damage on a failed check.

My thinking was, non-lethal heals much faster than regular damage, it essentially doubles magical healing and I think it allows for a small safety buffer to protect people from dying without actually removing the danger of low health. The no non-lethal retries and the damage on a fail is there in an attempt to prevent spamming and it may need some asterisks for creatures that can't have non-lethal damage or gaining regenerate.

Please let me know what you think.
