Hey everyone,

Trying to build a troll for 3.5 along similar lines to the ones in Warcraft 2 based around throwing axes, fighting with axes, going berserk, and in general just being a forest troll that hunts and kills with axes while going into bloodthirsty rages(but no frenzy because tpk potential)

Plan on using the highland troll with LA +1 from Admiral Squish, who has done wonderful work for troll lovers. For some reason I can't tag him because I haven't posted enough, so hopefully someone else can

Anyway, any help would be great, not trying to optimize, just trying to be functional, and fluff is as helpful as mechanics.

No frenzy as in the Whirling Frenzy ACF (Unearthed Arcana pg 66) or do you mean Rage instead?

The Berserker Strength ACF from PHII (pg33) might be something to consider, kinda reminds me of one of the trolls old racials from WoW.

Here's the link that op is speaking of.

Net +0 ability scores, 2 natural armor, scent, stronger than normal bite attack and the two real abilities: Regen 1 and powerful build. 1 rhd that can be a class level, +1 la and the giant type.

Right off

I suggest Whirling Frenzy barbarian. Pounce is amazing and highly suggested, but might be too powerful for the group. Snatch up Reckless Rage as your level 1 feat. Very thematic for a troll build.
I suggest 3 totemist and 2 ranger. Then enter into Totem Rager. Level 17+ could be another barbarian class, or more ranger.

Sorry, meant no frenzied berserker prestige class, because it is considered dangerous for how later back or group is.

The obvious route would be to do a Bloostorm Blade build with a level of barbarian for the rage.

Something say...

Wolf Totem (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#wolfTotemClassFeatures ) Whirling Frenzy (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/classFeatureVariants.htm#rageVariantWhirlingFrenzy ) Barbarian 2/Ranger 2/Warblade 6/Bloodstorm Blade 10

You'll definitely want Brutal Throw from Complete Adventurer to use your Strength bonus on thrown weapon attack rolls instead of Dexterity, at least until you get the 2nd level in Bloodstorm Blade and get Thunderous Throw, which at the cost of your swift action, allows you to treat any ranged attack as a melee attack instead.

Once you do get that ability, you can also utilize Knock-down (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm#knockDown) with your thrown weapons because they are treated as melee attacks, which also allows you to throw a follow-up weapon if you do succeed in tripping them (use Quick-draw to draw another one). You can hit this point as early as level 7. Once you hit Bloodstorm Blade 4 and get Lightning Ricochet you no longer need to draw additional weapons.

A generous interpretation of the Two-Weapon Rend feat from Player's Handbook II, lets you deal and extra 1d6 plus Str*1.5 damage in any round in which you hit with both weapons you "wield". You can take this as a ranger if you choose the two-weapon combat style even if you don't meet the Dex requirements. So at higher levels (11+) your typical routine would probably be to throw an axe with a maneuver, get a trip attempt from Knock-down, get a follow-up attack with Improved Trip, then rend if that succeeds. Or if you are facing multiple enemies, on a full attack you can do this whole routine for each enemy you can hit at least once, since Two-Weapon Rend functions on each opponent once per round.
