Blood hunter confusion

So I have an odd question,Which version of the blood hunter is the correct version. The DND beyond version or the geek and Sundry PDF. So that's what I need help with besides maybe where some decent Homebrew for it could be.

I assume it was a balancing decision, but it isn't completely gone. You can use your blood maledict as a heal by taking the Profane Soul subclass and choosing Celestial patron.

The class as a whole is much stronger now that it was before.

Would it destroy the balance if I asked my dm to use the maledict from the previous 1.2. since the celestial maledict option is essentially the same.

Probably not but I personally wouldn't advocate for stealing other subclass features.

It was originally it's own maledict though but I understand. I will still try to talk to my dm about it. I intended to grab it as pinch healing for protecting clerics or giving Barb's that little extra edge.
