Your team walks into the room to see 5 large trees distributed evenly throughout the room, reaching almost all the way to the ceiling.

Perform any preparation you would like, start anywhere you would like, and when you're ready, take a round of actions (you win init).

I'm assuming there's no exit door, we just need to kill the big guy to progress.

In preparation:
Scathach inspires each of the others (2/5 insp remain) and casts greater invisibility on Ghislaine (D8)
Fjallar casts mage armor and mirror image. (D13)
Nekhbet casts conjure animals (8 elk around center) and summons a bear totem (+14 tmp hp to all) (C16, flying at ceiling)
Ghislaine casts haste from ioun stone on herself. (I13)

Then they start (I assume there will be monsters on map before I take first round). I don't seem to be able to edit the map (Elk are in center, Ghislaine near center, others a bit above center, spread out).

Scathach hands Fjallar another scroll of Faerie fire.

The elk run across the field (longest path to current position, going below trees. center ones going out to edge first), hoping to run into an invisible enemy, and testing each of the trees for solidity as they go, then ready action to attack an enemy if possible.

Nekhbet readies an action to cast frostbite if an enemy appears.

Fjallar casts minor illusion of mists over nekhbet.

Ghislaine readies action to attack any enemy whose location is known (preference for big guy).

When are the monsters/ wind effect revealed? I did things in order so I could have a chance to take other actions once they were discovered. Owls searched (max 22 perception), then scathach searched (25 perception) then elk physically kicked the trees and tried to run through the most squares.

Assuming that trying to identify the actual treant is something I can reasonably do with perception. If I know a better way (Knowledge? Investigation? Insight?) then I might do that instead:

Nekhbet and scathach move down towards the bottom right each avoiding their enemies reach. Nekhbet stays close to the ground, noticing that his opponents could all reach the ceiling.

The four owls take turns distracting air elemental D between elk attacks.

The elk charge the air elemental in the treants space D, before retreating.

All the numbers you tallied seem to be correct.

The true treant roars as Ghislane's arrows rip into its bark. In response, the nearest air elemental rushes him. The wind shifts East, towards the party. Treant 3 hurls a rock at Ghislane, while Treant 1 hurls a rock at Nekhbet and Treant 2 steps up to beat Nekhbet down. Air elementals speed toward Scathach, Ghislane, and Nekhbet, trying to knock them away.

Noticing the discussion in OOC chat. The first 6 elk did 92 dmg, and the last two 12 dmg (their attacks count as magic). I assumed it would take 90 to kill the elemental, so only redirected the last two. So if it takes significantly less than that to kill they can charge one of the other elementals once it dies. Prob would have chosen C just for simplicity and allow same positioning.

Also the attack vs Ghislaine would be disadv from greater invis. (but doesn't matter right now).

So with elk and fireball I believe both C and D should have been dead. Correct me if I am wrong.

Also I should have put elk 1-3 next to 5-7, made a mistake in editing the map afterwards. Don't think it make a difference
If there's some indicator of how damaged the Treant looks, I'd appreciate knowing that. I'm going to go ahead, but I might want to attack elementals instead if it looks like the damage was having only minor effect on treant.

Conversely if the treant is looking very rough nekhbet may try to kill it instead of dodging.

You kill that tree extraordinarily dead. Ghislane's arrows rip clean through, puncturing jagged holes in the bark of the treant. It falls, and as it does, the air elementals fizzle out of existence, and the other two animated trees take root, motionless.

Taking in the new room, Nekhbet directs the elk to forward. Two swim up from the edges through the center of the lake hoping to provoke the enemy (or determine if the enemy is part of the lake), while the owls fly overhead also attempting to locate the main enemy, focussing their attention on the lake. If that fails fjallar will casts faerie fire in the lake where the edge just touchs the elemental B, nekhbet and scathach will also search for the enemy. The elk will charge the fire elemental on the edge of the lake, turning their attention to the others (or the main enemy should that be found) should that one fall.

The owls spot the main enemy, some tentacled monstrosity at the bottom of the 45 foot deep lake.

The faerie fire doesn't seem to affect the Fire Elemental. The Elks manage to just take out the Fire Elemental at the end of the lake, but all are burned by the close proximity to the fire. The remaining Fire Elementals glide across the outside of the room, leaving a fiery trail where they walked.

The tentacled thing casts a spell, and moments later, a massive hand appears right next to Nekhbet, and attempts to shove him into the lake. If the shove succeed, the creature swims to melee range underneath/next to him.

If you could put the HP of the Elks somewhere on the google sheet, kind of like charlesrwest has with his Earth Elementals, that would be great. Feel free to move around any of my things.

Also, Ghislane's attacks have disadv because his target is underwater, which cancels the advantage. Attacks 3 and 4 will hit, but you can redirect to an elemental if you'd like.

The first 7 Elks take out the fire elemental, so I redirected Elk 8 to Fire A. All Elks take [roll0] fire damage. Additionally, all creatures in the fire take [roll1] damage, and will take another [roll2] damage if they end their turn in the fire. The fire is the hollow purple lines.

Opposed Athletics Check on Nekhbet: [roll3]. If he fails, he gets pushed to H9 and must make a DC 15 Concentration check.

Once the owls identify the enemy, the elk attack the elementals they can.
Nekhbet will raise his feathered wings and a gout of earth and stone will pummel the underwater monster.
Scathach will hop in the water to get close enough to cast blindness/deafness and attempt to blind the monstrosity, as well as a pair of the fire elementals.
Ghislaine will hop into the water to get close enough for her bolts to be unaffected by the water.
Fjallar gives an angry mutter, a translucent purple shield snapping up around him and leaps into the water, "Always be yourself they told me, but what if I don't want to be myself? What if I want to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex!" His form shifts and expands into the dinosaur's huge form, making for a massive bellyflop. The beast swims down and savages the monstrosity.

With the the precision of an expert Ghislaine fires off even more shots (making sure to stay within range of the monstrosity)
As the elk fold in on themselves and pop out of existence Nekhbet screeches in anger and renews his spell, this time creating even more of his flock. A swirling pack of velociraptors tear into the monstrosity. Fjallar swims up near to the monstrosity and takes the distraction one of the owls grants to strikes out again, before the bard attempts to send the monster fleeing with an unsettling dissonant whisper, hoping to give her allies more opportunities to strike the abomination.


Not sure if the monstrosity needs to take concentration saves or not.

EDIT:
btw crossbows can shoot through water without interruption as long as they are within normal range.
owls are all at max height after distracting the monstrosity twice.
So I don't Know the AC yet, but with this many attacks I should be able to figure it out from which attacks hit, so if you want to tell me I can do the addition (Since that's a lot of individual attacks).
I'm assuming it failed that dissonant and moved away.

The monstrosity thrashes as the T-rex bites into it. As the onslaught of smaller dinosaurs approaches, it surrounds itself with a magical shield, stopping the most of the ravenous velociraptors.

It does not flee because it has already used its reaction to cast Shield. AC is 17 + 1 per live elemental (+5 from shield).

The monstrosity casts a lightning bolt, hitting Nekhbet, the polymorphed Fjallar, and velociraptors 9-12.

The fire elementals move towards the east side of the room, setting the ground on fire as they walk.

All elementals take the dodge action. All creatures in the fire take [roll0] fire damage.

Lightning bolt: [roll1] damage, DC 17 Dex for half.

Btw please let me know if the characters can tell if some attacks are working particularly well or particularly poorly, and approx how damaged it looks.


Seeing the near success of her previous attempt, Scathach acts before the lightning bolt's afterimage fades, once again whispering terrible things in the monstrosities ears, while her owl distracts, before whispering much nicer things in Ghislaine's ear, and hopping in the water.

Ghislaine fires off another salvo, trying to pop each of the things eyes, and moves over to escape the fire.

Fjallar takes advantage of his feathered friends distraction and takes another bite at the thing, moving entirely into the water.

The velociraptors swarm over the monster once again, hoping to avenge their comrades deaths.

Nekhbet targets the ground outside the pool causing another eruption of earth, but making sure to avoid hitting his friends.

Anyone of yours faster than a [roll0] can go. Start anywhere south of the line. It's not anything interesting, just a marker.

Erupting Earth was very much not needed - you overkilled it by ~100 HP. So yes, you can keep the spell slot.

Several figures file into the room and line up. In order, a paladin with a greatsword, itching for battle (A), a fighter with a glaive that moves so stiffly you could mistake him for a statue (B), and a spellcaster with a large staff scowling at the walls (C). Despite the fact that they're about to fight to the death, all of them are wearing identical shaded glasses, presumably for protection from the sun.

Behind them, a shadowy figure floats into place. He's wearing a very large black hooded robe, so you really can't get any information about him.

All just flavor text, no hidden hints or clues. I had a bit of fun making these guys.

Fjallar reverts for to his gnomish form for this final match. "Might as well face them as my true self, he mutters." Discarding subtlety for the climatic moment the spell casters launch their most powerful blasts. Nekhbet flies to the side and casts Erupting Earth while Scathach and Fjallar cast Synaptic Static.

Mr. President and Agent C dodge the brunt of the Erupting Earth. Only Mr. President seems affected by the first Synaptic Strike. The spellcaster counterspells the second Synaptic Strike.

3 of Ghislaine's arrows are enough to drop the spellcaster. Mr. President Shields Ghislaine's last arrow. Seeing the shield, the velociraptors dogpile on the Paladin, but very few of the velociraptors can get through his armor.

The fighter walks up to Scatcach and attacks him twice with his glaive, before taking a defensive stance as a bonus action. Mr. President targets Nekhbet with a plethora of Eldritch Blasts. If Ghislain appears, the Paladin will target him with a Compelled Duel, otherwise he will walk up to Nekhbet and attack twice while Smiting with a 2nd level spell slot.

You said if scathach saves he attacks Nekhbet, but Nekhbet is at 20' up, so can he reach that? Fjallar instead I assume?

BTW you said only the president seemed affected by the synaptic static. Do you mean it doesn't do anything at all to the others, or only half damage?

Also if any did fail vs synaptic static they would need to subtract 1d6 from their attacks.

Yeah, half damage, sorry about that.

If the second synaptic strike goes through, President dies outright, without a Ghislaine arrow. Ghislaine gets another shot, and I assume he next targets the paladin, who dies after one shot. The next shot would then go to the fighter, who shields it. Only one left standing is then the fighter, who is affected by Synaptic Strike.

Fjallar casts fireball on the wolves, not wanting to worry about picking them off one by one.

Nekhbet cast conjure animals at 5th level, summoning 16 Velociraptors, and conjures a bear totem covering all of the allies.

Scathach casts crusader's mantle, inspires Ghislaine, and rides forward, allowing her mount to strike twice.

The velociraptors swarm the poor hellhound, then the remaining ones attack the humanoid enemies, focusing on the bard and swashbuckler.

Ghislaine casts haste on herself, then uses the attack and bonus action to fire twice at the hellhound, distracted by her and Fjallar's owls.

Fjallars silent minions file in to stand in a line. Each of the members of team fungus have preparations to make. Fjallar sets a nasty trap of sickening radiance, while scathach Wards the area with sickening clouds. Nekhbet prepares the ground to defend the nexus, turning the whole area into his grove. Oddly there seem to be 2 ghislaines...

I'm kinda assuming the bosses are going to be in the air and out of melee reach from ground, but correct me if that's wrong and I might make fjallar cast wall of stone instead.

nekhbet casts druid grove causing solid fog, awakened trees, spike growth. (I'm assuming the grasping undergrowth does its entangle effect once on cast instead of repeatedly (its kinda unclear). Otherwise I'd use that). Nekhbet raises a permanent wall of stone blocking the whole length, leaving a gap blocked by the tiny hut.

Basically each foot of movement on ground costs 4ft, and they take 2d4 dmg per 5 foot moved. All on ground are heavily obscured. This only affects enemies.

The sickening radiance is NOT yet active, but when I activate it:
Creatures who start turn in or enter sickening radiance (which covers all area above wall) take 4d10 dmg and a level of exhaustion (con save 18 to half and avoid exhaustion). 6 levels of exhaustion = death.

They also must make a con save 18 or lose their action to stinking clouds

Leomunds hut is blocking a gap in the stone wall. It is opaque from outside. Presumably bosses can attack through it, but it blocks everything else. My characters can move through it at will except for ghislaine (which would end effect). I can shoot out, but not cast magic through it.

The wall of stone has ac 15 and 150 hp per 10x10 segment.

It should be 5 attacks each actually.

One readied attack (since extra attack doesn't work on attacks out of turn), then three attacks for the action, and one for bonus.

So to speed things up some, here are my calculations:

Ghislaine and simulacrum deal 20.5 and 18.5 dmg respectively (ignoring crits).
Fjallar, Nekhbet and Scathach deal 7.5, 7.5, 6.5 respectively.
The zombies and animated trees are currently just there to soak hits. but can attack if something is in front of them.



they move 10 ft (as foot costs 4 ft of movement), and take 10 dmg from spike growth. The mobs autofail vs stinking cloud, so they would need to start their turn in k5. It will take 140 ft to get there (12 turns, as part is out of spike growth)

I'll have Fjallar will cast sickening radiance to guarantee the mobs perish (6 rounds will kill with exhaustion before they can do anything), and simplify this. So potentially 39*4+21 from attacks and 22 from sickening radiance aoe dmg to boss.

1: Boss will make sickening radiance save and move forward. I'll attack.
2: Boss will make sickening radiance save and move forward (at half speed if it failed both saves.), I'll attack.
3: Boss will make sickening radiance save, and stinking cloud save (at dis adv if it failed all three saves) and move forward and, if it made stinking cloud save, makes one attack at closest minion. (with disadvantage, but hits and kills zombie unless nat 1). I'll attack.

around 16th boss they will have so much health they will only die to exhaustion (getting ~11 attacks in the meantime)

At some point I will use conjure animals just as fodder. Then wall of force to delay. Then force cage to contain the horribly powerful bosses, though I'm assuming covering the spawn point itself with forcecage wouldn't (and shouldn't) be allowed.

Okay had to move monsters due to both not recognizing giants were huge and could't fit. Trying to still take same actions to keep it the same, but it requires some complicated movement.

Basically z1, z2 start next to glabrezu, z3 takes turn to move r18, distract glabrezu, move back to q16 (huge creature so you can move through). 3 owls ready help. ghislaine does shots. z4 moves in help action, moves away. o4, z1, z2 ready help action. ghislaine simulacrum does shots.

Now huge creature means zombies can't reach glab, so z6,7,8 attack frost (12 dmg) z9-10 attack fire giant (6 dmg).

But it doesn't matter since I forgot to count the bonus action attack from simulacrum. so Glab is dead anyway.

If assuming z3 grappled z5 can simply pull him out of the way

The loss of companion pushed the remaining Hezrou into a rage. Regardless of what Opportunity Attacks it might encur, the Demon would shift, moving around, behind the Warlords in order to slot into the space that fallen demon once stood. From here, it could Multiattack the flying Griffon. While it was hampered by the residual effects of the Synaptic Static, the power of the Hobgoblin’s Leadership would counteract this, at least partially.

From there, the Hobgoblins would Multiattack attack as well. Throwing Javelins at the Griffon. The closeness of the Hezrou meaning that they could use their talent of Martial Advantage to devastating effect. And if they managed to slay the Griffon... well.

Then they would have a Bard right at their feet.

Regardless of this, Warlord 7 and 8 would move to fill in the gap left by the Demon, plugging in their Shield Wall to make it impossible to be flanked.

Just as planned, the Griffon dies, sending Scathach plummeting to the ground. It wasn’t a long fall, but it would hurt nonetheless, and more importantly, they would end up on the ground, prone, before them. At least, that was the plan.

Warlord 7, whose Javelin would slay the creature, would then switch targets to Nekhbet. As would Warlord 2 and Warlord 3. These attacks might not be able to use their talent of Martial Advantage, but it was a far better use of their time over attacking the Zombies standing before them. This would only happen if Scatach was prone, if he was saved by one of his companions, then they would still focus their attacks against him in order to use Martial Advantage

Warlord’s 4 and 5 however, regarldess of whenever or not the bard was prone, would bring their blades to bear on him, hoping to deal as much damage as they could.

As the zombies and animated objects take advantage of their foes repositioning to get a few swipes in, the slower members of the party prepare to destroy their foes.

Fjallar raises his sparkling new staff of power and casts fireball at 5th level. Then commands his animated objects to attack.

Ghislaine moves forward and unloads on the warlords, with the zombies distracting. The velociraptors move in, attempting to shred the demon first.

I mentioned that I may direct ghislaine shots to targets with more health and leave very low targets to minions. So targetting last two shots on W1, and leaving the other targets to the Vs leaves W1 with 35 health. (I think it could be optimized more, but would take careful V targetting with move limitations.)

Prior to Fungus entering the arena, their opponents ready themselves.

The vampire spell caster casts mirror image, nondetection and greater invisibility on itself. It then takes the dodge action.

The Iron golem readies it's poison attack to be made if a significant group of vulnerable enemies moves close to it (or if it's turn is about to start).

The flesh golems both take the dodge action.

When appropriate, the vampire spell caster is going to use it's legendary actions to close the distance with Scathach.
