First of all minor spoilers for princes of apocalypse rumors and side treks

Hello so I plan on running princes of apocalypse side treks for some al sessions

I was wondering if the rumors about the bandits on the road and the treasure up north

(4 bandits with a caged bear that can be released to help fight)

(4 stirges in the empty cave that was a false rumor)

I wasn't sure if this would be al legal or not but was gonna run both of them to make a 2 hour session to lead into "New Management." Once everyone hits 3.

After that was gonna start doing the module up until 5 and then run "The long Road." Where I was gonna make the bandit attack that happens linked with the bandits that were killed

If the 2 mini quests are legal where can I find code for them (I believe its called a session code)

You should download the AL documentation here:

https://www.dmsguild.com/product/208178/DD-Adventurers-League-Player--DM-Pack

The answers you need are in the ALFAQ, content catalogue, ALDMG and ALPG.

However, the short answer to your question is No.

ALFAQ:

"Can I Run Chapters as One-Off Adventures?
Yes, but not individual encounters. This rule is designed to facilitate play."

You can choose to run entire chapters of a hardcover as a one off adventure. These are logged with the hardcover code followed by the chapter number. That character will no longer be eligible to play that chapter again though the chapter can be played over multiple sessions.

"How Do Multiple Session Adventures Work?
Whether due to time constraints, or adventure length, adventures take multiple sessions.
Can Parts be Replayed?
Characters can’t replay content but may continue content that they didn’t complete. That is, if a game runs exceedingly long and all players and the DM agree to meet the following weekend to pick up where they left off and finish the game. If this occurs, appropriate entries should be entered on logsheets to reflect this. Replaying a portion of an adventure you want to replay isn’t permitted."

So you can't pick out specific encounters in PotA and use them for an adventure. It isn't AL legal. You CAN choose to play a particular chapter of the hardcover which may or may not incorporate one or more encounters (depending on what is in the chapter it could work out to be more or less the same thing but you have to be playing and logging the chapter and not picking and choosing specific encounters from the chapter and playing them out of context).

Ok that's perfect!!

Thanks!

Yep, Keravath pretty much covered it. My main gripe thus far about the 'gotta run the chapter' rule is that the Against the Giants trilogy in ToYP is one Chapter, meaning you can't run the Hill, Frost or Fire Giant mods without running them all. Lame. But otherwise it keeps players from cherry picking certain encounters just to for the loot.

Does it Need to be the same group of characters for the whole chapter? Because we have some people who only jump in occasionally

In general, no, it doesn't need to be the same group. As with most AL, players can mix and match. However, they will still be noted as having played that chapter on their character record and that character won't be able to replay the first part of the chapter if they decide they want to finish it in another running later. However, if a chapter takes several sessions they can drop in and out as usual as long as they aren't replaying any content.

"How Should We Log It?
Players must complete a log entry at the end of each session. However, it is recommended that characters participating in a multiple-session adventure also record their characters current hit points, and other expended resources (hit dice, spell slots, rages, etc.) in the notes section of their log entry, as such resources are not refreshed between sessions of the same adventure."

If you are playing multiple sessions consecutively then resources carry over between sessions (i.e. the character doesn't suddenly heal to full and have full resources when you pick up with the next session of a multi-session game).

However, we also have:

"Can They Play Other Adventures Between Sessions?
Characters can play other adventures (including other multiple-session adventures) between sessions. At the start of each new adventure, the character’s hit points, hit dice, and other consumable resources are restored to full; however, the character will begin play suffering the effects of any diseases, toxins, curses, or other maladies that weren’t removed at the end of the adventure.
It is for this reason, that characters participating in one (or more) multiple-session adventures should take careful note of their current resources at the end of each session.
Players taking their characters from game to game in this way are permitted to advance in level and earn rewards between sessions of a multiple-session adventure but must exercise caution or else they may accidentally level-out of their original game."

So .. you need to record your status at the end of each multi-session game on your log sheet so it can be restored to those values when you start the next session of that specific multi-session adventure. However, status effects like diseases will carry over between different modules being played simultaneously as multi-session games.

Cool!
Thanks so much
