Just curious, as I don't remember anything, has there ever been a scene where Redcloak or Xykon acknowledge that they are fictional characters in a comic?

Redcloak does have a lampshade delivered (to be hung anywhere) during his "I refuse to believe an order of Paladins would be so dumb as to actually ignore 4/5ths of the world ending anomalies" speech. I think thats as close as he gets, though.

To my surprise, OoTS is actually the demonstration image for this one.

Well, when Redcloak starts talking about what Tsukiko would do with the complete Ritual, Xykon tels him to take it to the fanfiction sites (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0833.html)...

Yes.

Redcloak and Right-eye both panic a bit when the color crayon flashback ends and they are still the black-and-white doesn't kick in for a few panels, because "the Plan is on a tight budget and there's no way they can afford full color."

The whole reason the MitD is itD is because Xykon doesn’t want to spoil the reveal.

#23 has Xykon saying 'they could have a cutaway any moment' in reference to the MitD. While it could be inferred he isn't aware he's currently in a cutaway, he at least knows that cutaways exist.

Redcloak is also aware of their antagonistic plotline (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0195.html).

In short, they're not as meta as the Order but definitely lean on the fourth wall, as opposed to breaking it.

In strip #23, Xykon mentions the possibility that "they might do a cutaway to us at any moment (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0023.html)."

Edit: Dang ninjas. Guess I failed my Spot check.

Redcloak wrote the foreword to one book. Origin of PCs, IIRC. He talked at length about the plight of those who don't have the benefit of a real-world player and his plot armor - NPCs like him.

Redcloak seems to know in the third mail-call strip (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0259.html). Although Xykon is oblivious.

This world is a "self-aware stick figure fantasy parody"? So I assume so?

I'd say no. They're just talking like crazy people, sometimes.
