According to BoVD, a sacrifice increase the power of an evil deity or a powerful fiend.
Two questions unanswered by the rules that requires homebrewing.

As always, I'm asking from a verisimilitude ( internal coherency ) viewpoint.

1- can a sacrifice be dedicate to a lesser fiend like an imp or quasit ? ( well, yes, of course it can but would it work? would it increase his power? )

2- can a native outsider ( like one with ten levels in Acolyte of Skin or Contemplative, or a 20th level Monk or Favored Souls ) make sacrifice dedicated to himself and gain power from them?

As for number 1. Yes, this is the beginning of a cult. They get materials for a forge for example. It taints the sole starts down the road. Eventually the imp or quasit brings or get unwanted attention from a low management type(humanoid) They then get involved [We will finish your training]...quite possible a low level cleric. Then a middle management type summoned by the imp/quasit. Slow over 1 year type thing.
