Booming blade

Was there an official ruling stating that spell sniper does work for booming blade?
I remember there was a talk on the forum a while ago about if it work or not but can’t find the thread any more.
I’d like to see again how it was ruled that it work.

Spell Sniper doubles the range of a spell that requires attack roll
Booming Blade requires attack roll, and has a range of 5' (not touch, or melee, or whatever)

There's no need for any ruling, the case is crystal clear.

By my understanding it works. Booming blade has a range of 5ft and has an attack roll. Spell sniper feat increases the range of BB to 10ft allowing you to use a reach weapon with it.

Mike Mearls seems to say it doesn’t work though. So, no, at one point, it wasn’t «*crystal clear*».
