Poor Roy, he got Elan's gig all wrong...

It's "dun, dun, DUN (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0021.html)" and not "dunh, dunh, DUNH (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0490.html)"!

think it was ironical, or sarcastic, or something...

I dunno. It sounds like Roy paraphrased Elan pretty well there. :smalltongue:

Or to put it another way: "... that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." :smallwink:

Actually, now that I note that English is not the OP's native language, I feel a little bad about my joke. :smallfrown:

Sorry 'bout that, BobTheDog.

Anyway, just so you know, parapharse means to "express the meaning of (the writer or speaker or something written or spoken) using different words, esp. to achieve greater clarity" or "a rewording of something written or spoken by someone else."

So in this case, since Roy was quoting Elan, but changing the wording ever so slightly, it was indeed a case of paraphrasing.

but here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0043.html) elan does indeed go dunh, instead of dun

No. Roy is secretly a twink at heart, and took (Flaw: Unable to Paraphrase) in exchange for +1 to his Base Attack Bonus. :smallamused:

I thought Roy lacked the bardic skills to do it, or just thought it was silly so didn't do it properly

No Geek should ever feel bad about quoting (or paraphrasing) The Princess Bride.

Sorry 'bout that, BobTheDog.

That's right! Grovel! Beg forgiveness! :smallmad:

And now that you've pointed it out, I feel rather dumb, but oh well...

I'd change the thread name, but I kinda liked where it ended up... :smalltongue:

And, as the other guy said, you shouldn't feel bad for quoting The Princess Bride.

As you wish.

And when Spiky said "As you wish" what he meant was, "I love you."

Every time someone quotes The Princess Bride, somewhere, a baby is predestined to become a gamer geek.

World domination, here we come!
