Speaking seriously, Hackers took their shtick from hacking communities of the time. Over the last 20 years that community has shifted (not that it's only one community, or ever was) but some of the old feel of it remained (in part because Hackers maintained it) when things coalesced into Anonymous, which of course is what directly inspired Everyone.
