Immediately Incapacitating a Planar Binding Target

Planar Binding is so complicated.

You gotta magic circle, dimensional anchor, then win a bunch of checks... so tiresome. :smallsigh:

Usually this hassle is necessary because you want the bound creature to do something for you, but sometimes the victim's compliance is not a factor.

You may just need it dead, or alive but unconscious.

So what I am looking for are ideas for set-ups wherein as soon as the Planar Binding target arrives on the spot, they are immediately subjected to things that are close to guaranteed to lay them out.

Thoughts anyone?

Well, the first link in your signature gives me an idea...

1) Go somewhere other than your home plane.

2) Bind {being you want to take out}.

3) Use The Word (https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/The_Wish_and_the_Word_(3.5e_Optimized_Character_Bu ild)) to nail whatever you bind with CL 122 Holy Word or Blasphemy. If you don't want to kill them, simply lower your own caster level to be their HD +5 first.

4) Because you're not at home for this, the banish effect of the words won't trigger, leaving you with the paralysis or death/destruction effects. Words also have no chance of disrupting your binding circle - unless you yell really, really loudly I guess.

Of course, if you're using The Word, you might as well do the full Wish and Word combo and skip the binding part too, just wishing baddies to you.

Fill a loose-leaf book full of max-CL explosive runes (with Merciful Spell (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/metamagic-feats/merciful-spell-metamagic/), or whatever the 3.X equivalent is, for nonlethal damage, if that's what you want). Place the book inside the summoning circle. As soon as you want the inhabitant dead incapacitated, hit the book with a min-CL dispel magic. Watch as everything in the circle is pasted knocked unconscious.

Proximity triggered trap of Monstrous Thrall and/or Smoky Confinement. If PF use Scribe's Binding instead.

Have s bunch of Shrink Item-ed Quintessence ready. On your command the carpet under the fiend us revealed to've been a colossal volume of Quiintessence all along.
Bonus points if the Quintessence is also animated for ease of transport.
