A friend of mine asked in our Dnd campaign if half dragons can become were creatures and no one had a definitive answer. Was hoping the vast collective knowledge of Dnd would have an answer. Thanks :)

The Werecreature templates are generally limited - not being applicable to the Dragon type, only Humanoid and Giant.

However, the Half-dragon template itself can be gained artificially through things like rituals (Savage Species).

So, a half-dragon bitten by a werebeast generally isn't infected, but a werebeast who gets access to the ritual, can become a half-dragon.

Sorry, but no. Humanoid or giant type only, and dragons and half dragons are ‘dragon’ type.

(Edit: true, the other way around could work)

Scroll down to "Creating A Lycanthrope" and you'll find this:

"Lycanthrope" is a template that can be added to any humanoid or giant (referred to hereafter as the base creature). The lycanthrope template can be inherited (for natural lycanthropes) or acquired (for afflicted lycanthropes). Becoming a lycanthrope is very much like multiclassing as an animal and gaining the appropriate Hit Dice. (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/lycanthrope.htm)

Only humanoids and giants, so dragons are ineligible. Inherited templates must be applied first as the creature is born with them, and acquired templates are added afterward. Half-Dragon is an inherited template, just like natural lycanthropy, these can be applied in any order. So you can apply Lycanthrope (natural) to the base Humanoid or Giant, and then apply Half-Dragon to that.

I think you mean Inherent and Acquired. Half-Dragon is Inherent, and Lycanthrope can be either of them, so you could apply Lycanthrope first.

You're right, it's fixed.

A human Half-Dragon could take the Human Heritage feat, which should allow them to contract Lycanthropy.

Also, a Lycanthrope that gains the Half-Dragon template through the Dragon Disciple PrC would most likely keep its Lycanthropy.
