Second season for the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya

just wondering, do any of you know when the second season is coming out?
i just finished watching the first (OMG BEST AniME EVER, tho a tad confusing)

The second TV season was announced in Japan on July 7 (a date that has a lot of significance in the story, incidentally). I don't recall seeing an actual broadcast date, and certainly nothing about a North American release yet.

I'd hazard a guess at early 08 in Japan. It's definately not on the autumn schedule, but the sheer volume of viral marketing for season 2 in Lucky Star would perhaps suggest they're gearing up for a release soonish.

Hopefully the tenth light novel will see a release this side of Christmas though.

Anywhere to get translations of the novels, by the way? I'm impatient enough for the story I might (gasp) read it.
