So we're starting a homebrew campaign pretty soon that will take us through an extremely long dungeon crawl. We don't know what level we'll end up at, but we're starting at level 3. The party is a bard (don't know which subclass but wants to be more of a support), a vengeance paladin, and me, an archivist artificer.
We rolled for stats and I'm sitting at a +4 to both dexterity and intelligence. I want to multiclass into wizard (war mage) at some point, but I'm having trouble deciding when to make the switch. Would it be better to make the dive after 3 to maximize my spell progression, after 4 to pick up warcaster before I leave artificer for good, or at some other point?
