Are there any canon "time traps" that either freeze an individual or, better yet, an area? If not, any ideas on an area stasis trap could work? A friend and I alternate DMing, and we're in the middle of a module I'm running (sinister spire). The party was about to go to the second level of the tower but not everyone can make the next session and it makes sense for him to run an adventure in between with the people that can make it without completely ignoring the fact they were mid adventure.
My idea is to have his character set off a temporal stasis trap to ideally lock him, the other player who can't make it, and the tower in stasis. We can handwavium but trying to keep it as "within rules" or at least as reasonable as possible. We are thinking they have to recover a rare item (stones from the past which they can get on Lurath in the pirate isles - a really cool island if you read the background in the pirate isles supplement) to counter the trap.
