The world's greatest (mundane) crafter. E6

I was toying around with bardic knack and elf dilettante feats and considering what access to every craft, profession, and knowledge skill in the game could do if you leaned into those super mundane skills. This...eventually led to focusing entirely on the craft skills, of which there are a nearly infinite number, and with bardic knack and/or similar abilities, you have access to all of them. Here is an E6 crafter of mundane things extraordinaire!

First, we need to get a sense of what the craft skill can do.

There are 7 additional sources of craft skill text in addition to the SRD: stormwrack, races of stone, epic level handbook, complete adventurer, page 20 of Magic of Faerun, page 65 of Heroes of Battle and the races of the dragon expanded web content.

The most dynamic craft skill expansion is granted in Races of Stone, which allows you to produce written works of art like books, poems, songs, etc. All at relatively low craft DCs. The spell choices and eiditic lock will allow you to turn your adventuring career into a huge knowledge base. Heroes of Battle will allow you to create or repair siege engines, which is awesome. Stormwrack will allow you to build some boats. Magic of faerun allows you to create spellbooks and paper. Complete adventurer and Epic level handbook allow you to lift the craft DC to complete the crafting faster.

The Build

We will start with human for the bonus feat. And we'll put an 18 in intelligence. Actually, if point buy is the means, make that a 17 and add a point to intelligence at level 4. A minimum wisdom of 14 is optimal. And charisma should be 15. In 32 point buy, this means your best array is

Str 8
Dex 8
Con 10
Int 18
Wis 14
Cha 15

Considering that craft skills are intelligence based, that means that the best way to boost that in an E6 environment is to aim for the inquisitor (dragonlance campaign setting p.80) which has the following ability:

Extreme Focus (Ex): 1/day per level of the inquisitor, he may add his ranks in Concentration to any one Intelligence- or Wisdom-based skill check.

That’s an untyped +9 to craft checks at level six. The prereqs for the prestige class are pretty easy too; Alertness (free with a familiar), BAB of +3, Gather Information 8 ranks , Knowledge (any) 6 ranks, and Sense Motive 5 ranks.

I've juggled through a few builds at this point, and the one base class that offers the most as far as bonuses are concerned is the Cleric, through both spells and feat support.

At first level, take cleric, sink 2 skill ranks in knowledge arcana and take the divine magician ACF from complete mage. For skills, max out concentration, spellcraft, craft alchemy, one knowledge skill (planes to set up planar touchstone), and max crossclass gather info and sense motive. Don't forget the crossclass knowledge (arcana) of 1.

If you're allowed to, take initiate of tymora (champions of valor p.32) and ancestral whispers (faiths of eberron p.145) as your first level feats. You're probably not allowed, as both require different worship entities as prereqs and you’re combining fluff from two different campaign settings.

So replace ancestral whispers with Jack of all trades (complete adventurer p.110). We can get that +4 sacred bonus from the ancestral whispers feat back by taking words of creation at 6th level. We cannot replace that +5 luck bonus to a skill check. This means that your alignment must be neutral good. Which means that poison making crafts might be forbidden because poison be mad evil yo. If poison crafting is desired, just forego that +4 bonus from words of creation, and redistribute your Cha score to make yourself beefier.

With Jack of all trades, we open ourselves up to autohypnosis and profession skills optimization also, as it synergizes with the inquisitor's extreme focus ability and the divine insight 2nd level spell that we'll be taking.

As for domains, you only get 1, so let's choose luck for the reroll. Although any allowable domain is fine. You may be tempted to get the artifice domain. It’s a trap because of the existence of the magecraft spell, which grants a higher competence bonus. And competence boni don't stack.

For spells at first level.
0: amanuensis (spell compendium p.9)
1: magecraft (+5 competence to a craft check)(Eberron Campaign setting p.113), unity wine (+1 morale)(PGtE p.73), scholars touch (races of Destiny p.167), comprehend languages

At first level you have a +15 to any craft check before calculating skill ranks. (4 int bonus + 5 luck + 5 magecraft +1 morale) The amanuensis, comprehend languages, and scholars touch spells are helpful with the artist craft skills extrapolated in races of stone. For example, you can create a reference book within a week, about any subject matter you experience, including synthesis of books you absorb through scholars touch, even ones in different languages thanks to comprehend languages. Amanuensis for mass production.

At second level, you gain +1 Bab, and gain 6-7 skill points. Max concentration, craft alchemy, knowledge planes, sense motive, and gather information. The rest of the skill points are up to you.

At third level, divine insight (spell compendium p.70 (+8 insight) and conjure ice object (Frostburn). For a total of a +23 to craft checks. And, you can summon ice objects using your craft checks. This spell is awesome For skills, advance the same ones as level 2. Conjure ice object is so sweet, you are now useful in your adventures!

For feats, you can take a crafting feat like scribe scroll or craft wondrous item or take practiced spell caster. This build opts for practiced spellcaster, but you know, you're a crafter.

At 4th level, take your 4th and final level of cleric. Advance the same skills.

At 5th take a level of erudite (complete psionic p.153). You get psicrystal affinity as a bonus feat. Get the artist personality for a +3 to all craft checks. This also grants you the alertness feat. As for your other bonus feat, take improved psicrystal (artist) on your artist psi crystal for a total of a +6 bonus to all craft checks. Your psicrystal May have your ½ ranks in all skills from Jack of all trades and thus be capable of an additional aid another +2 bonus to checks. If you read the improved psicrystal feat carefully, there is no prohibition of taking multiples of the same personality fragment.

For powers, take eidetic lock and call to mind. Both of which help with the whole crafting reference books thing. Spirit mark is a neat power to add to your crafted items.

For skills, you must finish maxing out gather information (4 ranks) and sense motive (1 rank) as inquisitors prerequisites.

At 6th level, take inquisitors for the extreme focus ability and the words of creation feat. This brings your craft checks to:

4 (ability)
Magecraft +5 (competence)
Tymora +5 (luck)
Divine insight +9 (insight)
Unity wine +1 (morale)
Improved artist psi crystal +6
Psi crystal using aid another +2
Words of creation +4 (sacred)
Extreme focus +9

for a +43 to all craft checks.

In E6, you now have 10 epic feats. Improved psicrystal (artist) 10 times is a good option, so is practiced spell caster (longer durations and +2 more insight to your divine insight spell), an item crafting feat & Exceptional Artisan (Eberron Campaign Setting, p. 52). Expanded knowledge psionic minor creation is a good choice, however there is some confounding text in the erudite class description that says that even with expanded knowledge the power chosen must be 1 level lower than your highest power level. It is honorable to attempt to get this waived, this is a specific rule that only affects erudites. Extend spell is a good option too.

Planar touchstone keyed to the blazing forge (planar handbook p.161) has the amazing higher order ability and halves the cost of masterworking. In fact, let’s add that to the pool of potential epic feats.

Base Ability: You gain a +2 bonus on Craft checks involving metals, and your cost for creating masterwork items is halved.

Higher-Order Ability: Once per day, you can fix anything made of metal in a single round, as if a make whole spell were cast. You accomplish this amazing task with a DC 20 Craft (blacksmithing) check; if the check fails, you lose one use of this ability, but the item is not Destroyed. Higher-Order Uses: 6.

So let's toy around a bit with a +43 modifier to craft checks at level 6 and modify them with our epic feats to see what we can do.

Here is my suggestion. You gain another +21 typeless bonus to all of your craft checks by continuing to add more and more artist fragments to your psicrystal, bringing our total to something like +64 by the end of your run as this character.

Masterwork tools
First things first, make yourself some masterwork artisan’s tools for the craft checks that you’re going to be making all of the time.

Location, location, location
Artist haven communities (races of Destiny p.175) grant a +2 circumstance bonus, as does masterwork crafting tools, which you can make yourself.

A magic forge (races of stone p.166) can add up to a +20 competence bonus if you find a way to be a dwarf.

It’s Who you know
Cityscape p. 76, Patronage to a house: Free money 1/month
Once the character has chosen which house to approach, she must arrange a meeting with someone of standing within it; the precise details depend on the city and the political situation, but doing so likely requires at least a DC 15 Diplomacy check. Several days might pass before even a low-ranking house noble can
meet with the character. Once she finally obtains her meeting, she must convince the individual that her services are worth supporting. If she seeks patronage for a craft, she must produce a sample product or performance of masterwork quality or its equivalent. (In other words, she must succeed on a DC 20 check using the appropriate skill.)

Patron of the arts: Supplies Available: The house can supply all manner of mundane equipment. It can also supply minor wondrous items, whose value cannot exceed 50% of the total aid provided. Depending upon its other interests, it might be able to provide alternate materials at the DM’s option, but never to the same extent as other houses more fully invested in those areas. Sample Contact: Baroness Elspath Silverweave (aristocrat 4/bard 2). The baroness will provide raw materials for the creation of a single work of art (not weapons, armor, or equipment), the value of which cannot exceed 100 gp. Once per month.

The Golden helm guild, (phb2 p.174) offers racial bonuses to specific craft checks. I believe that you don't necessarily have to be a gnome, but your interpretation may vary.

Miscellaneous
Explorer’s Handbook p.105: Ravar Bark: If a character uses the bark to sharpen a slashing weapon’s edge and succeeds on a DC 20 Craft (weaponsmithing) check, there is a 50% chance that the weapon gains the keen special ability for 1d4 hours. (The character cannot take 20 on this check, but he can take 10.) The ravar bark is consumed in the attempt to sharpen the weapon. Price 250 gp.

AEG p.15: Swim speed is reduced by 10 feet when wearing coral armor. However, because of its design, coral armor effectively weighs 10 pounds less in water. Growing coral armor requires the Craft (coralshaping) skill.

Ghostwalk: craft (shellcraft) make some manikins for your ghostfriends.

AEG actually has a lot of weird craft skills.

Final notes
You don't need to take jack of all trades. There is a fantastic feat in Dragon 318 Oriental adventures update that allows you increase hardness and hp of masterwork items that you craft. It is called great crafter. You can absolutely opt for this.

Don’t have my books, but is there a reason why cleric 4 offers more than a dip in marshal?

Don't kenku give a +3 when they use aid other? Maybe get one as an assistant.

Combining these two suggestions could have especially impressive results. Kenkus also get +3 instead of +2 when they are aided by others. A kenku with a bunch of assistants (psicrystals, familiars, summoned helpers etc) and a marshal dip to ensure that its helpers can all make the aid check successfully could have pretty impressive results here.

With 32 point buy, stretching to get the charisma above a +3, the same amount as an extra improved Psi crystal, didn't outweigh the benefit of additional spells

I just found this: http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/wn/20020522a

Magic Memory
Divination [Mind-Affecting]
Level: Sor/Wiz 3
Components: S, M
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Personal
Target: You and one other living creature
Duration: Special
Saving Throw: Will negates
Spell Resistance: No
You absorb the sights, smells, sounds, tastes, and/or textures of your immediate environment and magically record them in your memory for as long as you concentrate (up to 1 round/level). Anything that causes you to break your concentration ends the record. You can later share your experience with another willing living creature simply by maintaining direct physical contact and letting the memory replay. For as long as contact is maintained, that creature's senses perceive the earlier recorded environment. Once the memory is replayed, the spell ends, and the memory becomes a normal memory for both you and the target.
Arcane Focus: A mind flayer tentacle.
