Preferably as a reusable item. Is there any way for a single classed Sorceror to get this ability, as an item or otherwise?

With this, the Sorceror could effectively swap out his spells every day and really get a leg up on Wizard allies/enemies, what with spontaneous casting and extra spell slots.

You can get It as an item, you won't be able to craft it yourself though. Someone with the power and psionic tattoo master (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20031225a) could tattoo you and a capacitator.

Just cast it with Limited Wish (if your DM alows magic/psychic to function retroactively). There's no way that i' aware of to go around the xp cost though (other than perhaps turning it into an SLA and not via Archmage? Thoughtbotle but your DM will probably have this banned).

That said you could just convince your DM to get some knowstones or Drake Helms in the campain or at least runestaffs so you can get access to a bunsh more spells for a monetary cost (as a Wizard would with scrolls).

There's also other ways of getting way more spells known as a Sorcerer, if that's your real goal, and Psychic Reformation is just the tool you're currently investigating. With the feat Arcane Preparation, you can qualify for the Mage of the Arcane Order prestige class, which gives you access to the Spellpool; in short, you can cast any spell off the Sor/Wiz spell list that you're a high enough level for, and in exchange, you have to pay another spell slot for it at some unspecified later date, so long as it's no more than a month or so later. Providing you're not adventuring literally every day, that should be an easy price to pay.

(The feat and prestige class are both from Complete Arcane.)

You're going to cover it any day you're not utterly exhausted by bedtime. You just dump leftover spells into the pool when you're done for the day, keeping a few in reserve in case of nighttime attacks. It'll let you pay for a 7th level slot with 7 1st level slots if need be.

Sadly, this wont work. Psychic Reformation allows psionic characters to forget and re-choose Powers they learned at level up, but not spells, and this is not one of the things listed in the entry for Psionics-Magic Transparency (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/psionicPowersOverview.htm#psionicsMagicTransparenc y), so you get no help from that rule.

The only thing Psychic Reformation would do if used on a Sorcerer (or any other non-psionic character) is allow them to re-allocate their skill points and re-choose their feats (of course costing XP if they go back farther than the current level).

I was going to suggest MotAO as well. It basically lets you cast whatever spells you want from the spellpool.

Of course the sorcerer equivalent of psychic reformation would be dragonblood spell-pact, I suppose.

If you're going to abuse psionic tattoos to expand your magical repertoire, you could do it so much better as a psionic character.

Get one psionic tattoo of Psychic Chiurgery, one Capacitor, and one Transducer. Now you're all set to manifest Psychic Chiurgery with no xp cost as often as you want.

Use Thieving Mind Link on someone else so you temporarily know the power you want. Then use Psychic Chiurgery on yourself to permanently give yourself knowledge of that same power (which you can do because you know it at the moment). Rinse and repeat. Now you know every psionic power that exists, from every power list.

Find a spell-to-power Erudite and start learning spells too.
