Meta detect thoughts

Has anyone ever used twin metamagic on detect thoughts? How did that go? Knowing thoughts on both sides of a conversation would be very interesting.

Can you automatically work out what spell is being cast if you read the casters mind?

Can you read your own thoughts and probe deeper to remember some important detail?

Any other cool uses of twin or detect thoughts?

These are all really cool ideas. However, per RAW, you can't Twin Detect Thoughts because it has a range of Self.

You can, however, shift the target each round, so you could easily monitor both sides of a conversation, just not simultaneously.

I would say that yes, having a caster as the target would let you know what spell was being cast.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't target yourself. What happens after that would be a DM call.
