Hey everyone! Going to be doing a few sessions soon based around Gnolls. However, my party is 11th level and will just murder regular Gnolls. What books have more challenging foes related to Gnolls or their demon prince? Thanks!

Well, your average Gnoll (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/gnoll.htm) is CR 1, so:

Gnoll Brute (Manual of Monsters)

CR 4
Gnoll, Fiendish Cleric of Yeenoghu (Monster Manual IV) - Cleric 3
Gnoll Sergeant (D&D Miniatures: Giants of Legend set) - Fighter 3
Corrupted Advanced Hyenas (Expedition to the Demonweb Pits)

CR 8

CR 10

CR 20
Yeenoghu (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20060605a&page=2) (Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss)

In addition to the list above,

why not build a specific High Power Tribe of Yeenoghus Chosen, where all Gnolls start of with the Half Fiend Template without paying more than 1 to 2 HD instead of CR, and add fitting CLass Levels?
Say half of them CR 5 to 6, a third 7-8 and the rest 9ish?

Believe me, a fierce, fiendish inspired half Animal half humanoid Tribe can easily terrify even Level 11 Adventurers (that is, if they have a reason to not simply leave ^^).

Searched a bit more. There are the results:

CR 2
Abyssal Maw (Monster Manual II) - according to "Chainmail: The Gnolls of Naresh" article (Dragon #289):
The abyssal maw is a common demon in Yeenoghu's service. Consisting mostly of teeth, it speeds across the battlefield on a variety of appendages. The abyssal maw has a legendary appetite, and it has been known to consume a centaur in less than a minute.

Combat
Gnoll captains use abyssal maws as shock troops. Abyssal maws are vulnerable to missile fire, so the gnolls rush them into melee combat as quickly as possible. Once in the thick of battle, their gnashing teeth do the rest.

CR 6
More generic variant of Kheldiri appear in the Monster Manual IV as (Female) Half-Fiend Gnoll Warlock 4

CR 7
Rezwal - Male Gnoll Cleric 6 (Book of Vile Darkness, The Cult of Yeenoghu)

CR 11
Gnoll Fighter 10 (Book of Vile Darkness, The Servants of Yeenoghu)

Description of "Yeenoghu's Realm" (422nd layer of the Abyss) in the Fiendish Codex1: Hordes of the Abyss mentioned presence of hyenadons (no 3.X stats, there is the PF Hyaenodon (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/animals/hyena/hyaenodon/)), growth of thornslingers and strangleweed (no official 3.X stats, there is unofficially converted Thornslinger (https://www.realmshelps.net/monsters/block/Thornslinger) as CR 3), and one of random encounter is 33 HD Gargantuan Advanced Juggernaut (Monster Manual II) - which will be CR 14

Unfortunately, Demonomicon article (www.wizards.com/files/364_demonomicon.pdf) about Yeenoghu was 4E already, so we have no clue how the heck should look Nezrebe, Zaiden, and Crocotta in 3.X rules

Finally, article about Vecna in Dragon #348 says followers of Vecna are able to summon extraplanar Tainted Raver Gnoll with a Summon Monster II spell

EDIT:

Some of these links don't seem to be working, especially the Battle Sheets. The "Battle Sheets" was genuine copy-past mistake; I fixed it. All other links are working just fine.
(Also, all Battle Sheets are in the same archive, so it's enough to download it just once)

If you're willing to backport them from Pathfinder, there are a few more:

CR 2
Carrion Guard; Gnoll ranger 1 (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/unique-monsters/cr-2/carrion-guard)
Carrion Initiate; Gnoll Cleric 1 (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/unique-monsters/cr-2/carrion-initiate)

CR 3
Rageborn Gnoll (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/humanoids/gnoll/gnoll-rageborn)
Ugruk. Flind Fighter 2 (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/unique-monsters/cr-3/ugruk)
Giant Demon Gnoll (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/humanoids/gnoll/demon-gnoll-giant)

CR 4

Add appropriate class levels?

Some more searching gave me:

CR 3
Fazgul, Gnoll Fighter (Dragon #275) - Fighter 2

CR 5
Keshta (Sharn: City of Towers) - Male Gnoll Ranger 4

CR 12
Grakellan (Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss) - Male Gnoll Sorcerer 11, personal attendant of Yeenoghu

Also, Kingdoms of Kalamar have Half-Gnoll race, but I don't know any NPC with it

In the older editions, I found Hargun Skullknuckle - a Gnoll Chieftain who works as Chief of Police in Bezantur (https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Bezantur) city. He have 4 HD, best (AFAIK) THAC0 among the other pre-3E Gnolls (15), and worships Gruumsh

Add appropriate class levels?

As sentient humanoids, gnolls can have class levels. Which classes depends on what you want for flavor and abilities.

In my campaign, for example, while some gnolls worship Yennoghu, most are more nature-oriented (but still usually evil). They tend towards the Ranger and Druid classes.

I believe gnolls' favored class is Ranger anyway. But just about any class could be appropriate.

If you want to use masses of gnolls without having to track masses of gnolls, there is the mob template in DMGII. There is a discussion on a home-brewed improved version of the template here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?129179-3-5-Making-large-groops-of-mooks-threatening-gt-improving-the-mob-template!).

I actually did this with gnolls in a campaign I ran where the PCs were assaulting a town that had been overtaken by gnolls (Legacy of Fire) and it worked fairly well. It was certainly memorable when the battle dancer was punching through masses of gnolls.

Gnoll Assassin (Manual of Monsters)
Gnoll Warden (Manual of Monsters)What's Manual of Monsters?

Gnolls can get their RHD upgraded by taking the Otherworldly feat or otherwise having their type changed to Outsider. They're still going to need class levels to hang with high level adventurers, but it's something.

Flinds get proficiency with the Flindbar, which is a pretty cool weapon for disarm optimization, going the class level route.

More of a 3rd-party examples:

Gorvruul (The Fall of Liaven, Kingdoms of Kalamar) - Male Gnoll Barbarian 3 (CR 4); he wears Hide Armor made of human skin, and high on redberries (makes him deranged and bloodthirsty; alchemical +2 on Str and Con, and -4 on Dex for 2d10 minutes; second dose - while first still works - doubling the bonus and duration, but causing 1 Int drain)

Gnoll in the Monster Guide (Warcraft the RPG) have 3 HD, 19 Str, and six feats (4 of which are bonus feats). Also, the very same article have Gnoll racial "paragon" class, which gives - in total - +2 Str/Con (Con called Sta in Warcraft), Bonus Class Skills (which would be "always in-class"), Improved Initiative, and Weapon Focus three times (thus, "default" Gnoll, apparently, took all three levels)

Lands of Conflict (Warcraft the RPG too) have Rerjik Mashnose, male gnoll Barbarian 3/Healer 1/Shaman 1 (Healer is a Cleric substitute for Warcraft the RPG 1E, and can be Evil; Shaman is full-casting PrC)
