Ways to get into Thrallherd without being a Telepath?

As it came up in a group, the Psion Player is fascinated by the class, but doesnt want to retrain to Telepath (from Kineticist).

Are we to blind, or is there no RAW way to do this thats not mature Stilton?

The Expanded Knowledge feat allows you pick a bonus power known from any list, as long as it is one level lower than your maximum manifestable power. Since Mindlink is a 1st level power, you could pick it up using expanded knowledge at level 3, or you could use your bonus psion feat at 5th level to pick it up instead.

An Erudite in Complete Psionic p153 can learn discipline powers from another character who knows that power.

An Ardent in Complete Psionic using Substitute Powers (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070629a) may be able to add it to one of his mantles, subject to DM approval.

The Githzerai Link and Telepathic Affinity feats (CP) both allow you to use Midlink as a PLA. I believe that counts for reqs.

Is this a 3.5 game or a Pathfinder game? I only ask because sometimes people forget to put the tag on, and if it's PF, there could be some options that the 3.5 folks don't have.

D&D 3.5 with some minor PF stuff in it (mostly the better Skill System and some Feats/Martial Desciplies).

Probably not accessible for the player, but the Kalashtar Race which is a modified form of Human. Kalashtar gets mindlink as a racial psi like ability. Note the ML of 5 and mindlink are separate requirements and thus you can enter at thrallherd ECL 6 where your ML of mind link is 1/2 HD (thus 3) but if you get a 5th level manifester level from another source you are good.

Kalashtar is awesome for it allows power linked shards.

Note they have to wait till ECL 10 unless they use another feat (Kalashtar Mindlink) or another way to booster their ML to 5.

He is a mutated Halfling, so no, the Kalasthar Race is not available.

Looks like the Feat path is the best one. Easier than I had thought, how come I overlooked that?
