What is the damage die progression for 3.0? I am trying to piece it together for spells in the Epic Handbook.

if I recall, I believe its the same as in 3.5 and Pathfinder which looks something like this...

1
1d2
1d3
1d4
1d6
1d8
1d10
2d6
2d8
3d6
3d8
4d6
4d8
6d6
6d8
8d6
8d8
12d6
12d8
16d6

It does not go 2d6 -> 2d8. It goes 1d10, 2d6, 3d6, 4d6, 6d6... If you start with multiple d8's then it does 2d8, 3d8, 4d8, 6d8...

The Epic Handbook, when describing epic spells said it ended with d20s.

3.0 monk ended with 1d20 damage per punch, too. 3.5 has 2d10

Epic spells have a unique progression. The progressions for weapons and natural weapons are found here (http://www.dragon.ee/30srd/) under Equipment>Weapons and Creatures>Monster Overview.

You should be able to confirm here: http://www.dragon.ee/30srd/equipment_wpns.htm / http://www.dragon.ee/30srd/monster_overview.htm

Well, that isn’t at all confusing. I didn’t see the rules for epic spell damage die progression in the Epic Handbook, so I’m not sure what to do.

For epic spells, the die type just goes up one, d6>d8>d10>d12>d20, or down one d6>d4.
