I understand what the Stormwind fallacy is:

'Optimising your character does not make you a bad roleplayer, and refusing to optimise your character does not make you a good roleplayer.'

Something like that, anyway.

But why is it called "the Stormwind fallacy"? What's the significance of the name?

He didn't really invent it (not fully, others helped; like the original meaning), but he was the staunch defender so it was attributed to him. The name just stuck.
