"In the last world, I didn't have to do anything"(OOTS 1082 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1082.html))
"Worst case, I thought it would amp up her evil death goddess itch for the *next* one"(OOTS 1177 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1177.html))

So... What exactly is the foreshadowing here?

Loki's secondary motivation for the bet. Since people had often wondered about why he did it before #1177, it applies.

I'm still lost. What does Hel not having to do anything last world has to do with the bet?

This isn't reddit, easiest way to format is to type the text you want hyperlinked, highlight it, and hit the link button in the toolbar and input the link. Just a helpful FYI for ya.

Loki wanted Hel to be more active, is the implication I'm getting. In the last world, she was just passively getting her dues, but wasn't striving for anything, vs next world (assuming she wins) she's significantly more powerful and would have to be more involved to keep her power.

I think what they’re trying to say is that last world Hel just sort of sat around letting people praise her and Loki wants her to let her real evil side out and do things.

It indicates that Loki wasn't concerned with her diet so much as her apathy. His motivation was to spur her into becoming a more active Evil Death Deity, not teach her the importance of clergy.

Effectively, Loki was concerned/annoyed that his daughter was lazing around her plane achieving nothing because she was comfortably set up (in stickworld-1), and so that inspired him to setup the bet with her (in stickworld) to push her into achieving more on the world after that (stickworld+1).

Another quote from 1177: "Who knew she had that much hustle?"

It adds to Hel and Loki's character to the point where it would be interesting to see them in stickworld-1.

Cheers. I did think about editing it, but it's arguably clearer when you can see the numbers.

For a long time I have wanted to know what a world would be like when Hel is Queen of the Northern Pantheon. I'd definitely splash out on the side books for that.

It's called Ravenloft.:smalleek: Also, here's a list of actual foreshadowing:
The dragon mentions its mother (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0182.html) and V explicitly mentions that the Startmetal was out there by an older dragon. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0188.html)
Not just early foreshadowing of V's ruthless streak, but also REALLY early foreshadowing of the circumstances of Nale's eventual death. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0399.html)
The IFFC appearing as a one-panel gag. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0380.html)
The CPPD Chief says the mayor will put his head on a pike for this, shortly before Nale literally does so. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0356.html)
Haircut foreshadowing. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0319.html)
What MITD says in the first panel. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0543.html)
No one specific instance, but "Durkon" does indeed slip up on the accent a few times before it's revealed to the reader.
Malack foreshadowing: His children, (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0724.html) "unusual diet" resulting from "health issues" (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0743.html), mention of making more children, using some cleverly coded language... (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0764.html)
Tarquin has pun-dueled before, against Julio, presumably. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0762.html)
Minor one, but Xykon actually remembers who Roy is for once. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0885.html)
