I'm just concerned because on his own, he has no way to actually win an encounter. He's good enough at getting people suitably messed up and inconvenienced, but he can't kill them.

For the record, my spell choices are due to the fact that the campaign is undead-exclusive - all our enemies will be Vampires or Zombies/Corpse creatures. So I can't make use of all those fun Fort save-or-sucks.

Should I, as a Focused Specialist Conjurer 5, be able to kill enemies on my own? For the record, I'm preparing to go into Incantatrix at level 6.

Well, this isnt a solo game, right? If not, you have nothing to worry about. With a focus on BFC, your worry shouldn't be trying to throw dice at the baddies but making sure your lads can tear those undead to pieces before they can even reach the party. From your spell choices, I think you're well set up for it in a medium optimization campaign.

What do you think would be good to push it to high op? It's not that its necessary, I just do personally think of myself as optimizer. I want to be good at that. So what might be good for improving him?

Well, when I say high optimization I do mean like ultimate "breaking game and making others feel useless territory". With things like Otyugh Hole, Abrupt Jaunt, Focused Specialist and almost entirely optimal spell choice (I say almost to cover my ass on the fact that there are some reaaaaally strong spells at your level you haven't taken, like Arcane Turmoil and Mass Curse of Impending Blades). I think without doing something like Elven Generalist or some other ground up revamp, this is the level you should be. Although, you should probably invest in some scrolls. They're a wizard's best friend.

If you wanted to get even stronger, maybe pick a premade build that uses some of the cheesy spell interactions to break encounters. (Don't do this unless everyone else is cheesing lol)

I know that honestly I should pick up a few scrolls, but I avoid consumables like the plague. I probably will, though.

And while I like Elven Generalist, I decided against it due to preferring Small size + Bonus feat.

I'm planning to Chaos Shuffle some away later, once we get out of Undead Land, as it is.

If it's an undead-heavy campaign, you should probably take command undead, and consider a shirt of wraith stalking as one of your items.

If you want to close encounters more effectively, you could replace Invisible Spell with Fiery Burst.

I took Invisible Spell in anticipation of later spells, so I can't really remove it. However, yes, I'm going to grab Command Undead - I completely forgot about it. Serves me right for looking at a massive spell list, I was bound to miss something important.

Sure. Right up to the point that the DM decides to scatter the party.

Having a few ways to deal with problems all on your own isn`t a bad idea.

Wall of smoke is also pretty bad against undead. And note that unless I'm missing something, you don't qualify for your metamagic feats. Also, you can't just take a fighter feat at level 1 and then go back to wizard feats after—it's all or nothing. If you take Improved Initiative at 1st, you can't take Invisible Spell at 5th.

I very much would like to know which metamagic feats are problematic :)

Also, yeah. I'll go and shuffle some stuff around tomorrow to get it legal. Thanks for the comments Troacctid!

Edit: oh I see, yeah. That's a result of me fiddling too much and forgetting things. Originally I had Extend Spell on the build, but I forgot and removed it later.

I'll fix the Improved Initiative discrepancy as well, tomorrow.

And I know Wall of Smoke isn't great vs Undead, that's a Just in Case spell. Also, I like Walls. It's not as though I'm a sorcerer who really needs to watch his known spells, anyway.

Both of 'em.
