I am making a new Character - A Druid Forest Gnome with an Outlander background - but what could have happened to make a timid little forest gnome become and adventurer ?

A threat to the forest that requires you to leave it to save it.

Also you might have more luck in the fifth edition subforum.

Her lands where destroyed by BBEG or phenomenon. Situation has been repeated wherever she goes until she realizes that is useless to keep running and instead she should find the root of the problem. Boring but effective.

* Alternatively, a blight has fallen on her land and the druid Elder sent her out so that she might find some cure.

* She's looking for something or someone?

* She's the odd one. Never did fit in her community, always wanted... More. Adventuring is the perfect way to see the world beyond the confines of her people

* Something went wrong and got her exiled?

Perhaps the best reason? She got bored? She thinks nature is stupid and she is totally over it? Just ugh. She just wants a hot shower for a change?

You could also go the other way completely. Her forest is safe and secure, growing well and well protected by other Druids and animals. She is out seeking other places and other people who need help.

Or she is a scholar and a Druid. She is seeking to travel the world and chronicle and study all the beasts of world in their natural habitat.

You should post the character details in this thread:

I have it on good authority that the person will probably write a background for you. :smallwink:

Wanderlust - a sense to explore new flora and fauna study them to add more options for wild shapes and summons.
Headed to the city? No problem ! You see an entire ecosystem that the inhabitants might not, something your teachers might not even know about themselves.
You make friends with the cats, the dogs, horses, chickens, crows, pigeons , vermin etc

Possible self exile mixed with the above Wanderlust.

Finds other Adventurers as kindred spirits and Constantly compairing people to various (known) animals...

Box Elder tree allergies. The home forest just drops a lot of pollen every few years, have to get out and about a bit to give your nose a rest.

That's really something you should talk more with your DM, so he can use the reason as an hook to his campaign. But an elder druid, maybe a mentor to your character send you on a quest of some importance or just to force you to face your fear and meets peoples.

Think of it as Gandalf forcing Bilbo out of the shire and on an adventure, he didn't want to go but found himself on the road anyway.

This made me laugh way more than it should have.

darn it, *sneeze, sniff* why can't allergies *sneeze* be considered a disease *sneeze, sneeze, sneeze* and be curable by lesser *sneeze* restoration?
