Smart little animals to ad to a Lich's Dungeon

After a few original sessions, I have a slightly over level / over powered party just starting the modern version of Dead in Thay from Tales of the Yawning Portal.

Another thread on Shadows reminded me I can drop a few in in where appropriate.

I'm familiar with the Homunculus and like how adding one here or there can make an encounter a little more difficult if the party isn't careful.

Any other ideas for smart little creatures evil Wizards and Lich's may have?

traps. Lots of traps. I had an overleveled party, who's highest passive perception score was about 13, not deadly traps, but after falling into the 700th 10ft deep pit, the players may be a bit more cautious..
