I am very tempted to spin up a 5e players handbook and monster manual for The Dark Crystal, the Netflix series really made me want to play in this setting.
Starting races: all the different Gelfling clans, a podling, and probably not a skeksi or mystic (since those are very specific characters)
Classes: I say play any existing classes but only allow spells choices from this setting book.
Spells: create custom spells that are themed around connection with Thra/connection to the Darkening
