Gaining Epic Spells On Level Up

When Wizards level up, they gain 2 new spells of a spell level they can cast, so does that mean that if you are an epic level wizard, you can just learn 2 epic-level spells for free?

Epic spells don't have a spell level, even though using an epic spell slot counts as a 10th level slot for some purposes. You can simultaneously have both 10th (and higher!) level slots and epic slots, and you can't use the former to cast epic spells.

IIRC, it's epic spells themselves that count as 10th, not their slots

Epic spells count as 10th level for the purpose of Concentration checks, save DCs and similar:

...which means that you can't get them for free on levelling up.
