What are your thoughts on this wacky AcF, I feel like a lot of the time end up preparing the same spell in both your sun and moon slots, but I see corner cases with things like dark vision being prepared only in moon slots.

For reference from the wonderful collected AcF thread found here:http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?444354-3-5-Alternative-Class-Features-(ported-from-Wizards-community-boards)

Lose familiar @1. When you prepare spells, you can store two spells in one slot by designated one 'sun' and the other 'moon'. Moon spells can be used underground or at night. Sun spells can only be used during the day and above ground.

Prepare different spells in all sun/moon pairs. Cast a spell to shape dirt around your head to switch between Sun spells and Moon spells at will by taking a step left or right during the day. Do your best to have adventures happen outside and during the day. Profit from double efficiency and the new DMG that was thrown at your head earlier in the evening.

Umm, couple missed details: You can only do this to 1 slot per spell level, not at all to cantrips, and if one in a pair is cast the other can no longer be cast (although by RAW it is debatable whether it still counts for the purposes of reserve feats).

Seems like it could be very fun if it applied to all slots. At only one slot per level, certainly not worth the other things you could get for a familiar, chiefly Immediate Magic or Eidetic Spellcaster.

Do you guys think it would be balanced if it applied to every slot?

Can you give me source for Eidetic Spellcaster? I can't find it, and Immediate Magic is really bad in my build since it scales off specifically wizard levels, and my build uses early entry shenanigans to get into master specialist at ECL 3, meaning I only have 2 wizard levels.

Edit: nevermind it's dragon content, that's the only thing not allowed.

Abrupt Jaunt has nothing that scales off your level. Nor does Glimpse Peril which is the other one you might take, if you go Diviner to minimize school loss.

Eidetic spellcaster is Dragon 357.

You're better off sticking with normal familiar than this ACF, as-is.

Still would like to know peoples' thoughts on making it every slot.

So i'm fully aware this is a poor decision but I just wan't to cast fire all day every day, so i'm building an evocation specialist (our party is also lacking any form of area damage soo...)

point being, preparing the same spell in both slots does not to anything for you.

Bumping this thread to re-ask the question: what would would be a balanced, competitive version of this ACF? Is having it apply to every slot too much? What if it were every slot but replaced specialization instead of familiar?
