Which should i pick staff of power or robe of Archmage.

I'm playing a artillerist artificer for a one shot. Yes we know there are class requirements we are waving them. So which one would be better for my artificer. I cant Decide.

What level would your character be?

Subjective Pro's of staff:
Better AC when Dex < 20 (with half plate)
Improves all saves in all conditions by 2
Many extra spells you can use without learning them
Power/Retributive strike to counter counterspelling

Subjective Pro's of robe:
Better AC when Dex > 19
Improves spell save DC
Advantage on saves vs magical effects
Does not require attunement by a Sorcerer, Warlock, or Wizard

Robes is definitely better, even if just for the +1 to spell save.

I say go for the staff if your DM let's you ignore the Sorc/Warlock/Wiz requirement.
To make the most of the robe you need 20 Dex and you can't afford to get that and a respectable Int by level 11.
Additionally, the spells in the staff are much better the lower level you are. 11 means many of those spells are quite good.

I would personally take the robes over the staff. +2 to spell attack and saves is just that good, and the robes have a 0% chance of killing you horribly. The rest of the robe's properties are just gravy.

.... Unless you need to kill something very powerful and are willing to sacrifice your character, at which point the 800 (400 on save) force damage from the retributive strike is solid.

I would base my decision almost entirely on how spell starved I feel.

I'm going with the robe because I also get Mizzium Apparatus with it. So it's the robe and Apparatus or the staff with adding an extra 5 charges and add a single time 6 charge disintegrate.

Good choice. As a caster I'd rather have the apparatus than the robe or the staff
