I have the concept for my Avernus PC, how do I make it better?

This is strictly not an optimization question.

This is purely RP and shenanigans.

My Avernus character is Johnny, a Bard who plays the fiddle. I'm on a quest to get a shiny fiddle made of gold.

.....yeah. Really. I think I'm laying it on fairly thick, so if you're still not clued in, you young'ins need to listen to older music. :smalltongue:

Any ideas on references and stuff I can make? How to RP things? Obviously I'm willing to gamble with my soul, but how far?

Is this for AL Season 9? If so, you have access to a free Common Magic Item. Your fiddle could an Instrument of Scribing or Instrument of Illusion, perhaps won in a previous contest (with a lesser devil or diabolist).

You could even give it some nice touches, like strings that smoke when played. Maybe call it "Ol' Scratch".

Not for AL, but I might be able to convince the DM to give me some leeway on it.

Common magic items don’t typically offer any mechanical benefits, so it shouldn’t be much of an issue.
