Building off of a framework I've been refining for a while, this is only getting posted to get it off my brain and let me sleep :P

Where races once provided a +X to a start, they now increase that cap by 2X.

When rolling, roll an extra die for a stat that a race favours (still only keeping the same amount though).

What this does is causes races to become more diverse to each other. Sure, playing an off-race class can be fun, but only when off-race actually has distinction. Sure, or s can be strong, but only if they don't cap out at the same level as a gods damned kobold.
