Watching Monty Python's the Holy Grail, and suddenly I want to play a bard.

Specifically, a FRENCH Bard.

Vicious Mockery.

"Go away Pig Dogs, or I taunt you a second time."

"Silly English Kniggits."

"I fart in your general direction".

So, Now I need a one shot. That's all I can do w/ this cat. LOL

That could be fun - and there's various other fun options too, from the high brow (Shakespeare has some zingers) to the staggeringly low brow ("Shut up, your mother buys you Megablocks instead of Legos").

Are you going to sing songs that mock the English?

To be fair, a mocking bard can be played seriously.

Think of the hunchback jester Rigoletto.

Use sarcasm, dramatic irony, metaphor, pathos, puns, parody, litotes and... satire.

You can be vicious as long as a powerful patron protects you.

Before you decide to do this, how long do your games last?

This is alwayd fun -- for about two minutes.

Will it still be fun after 30 minutes? An hour? Four hours?

Monety Pyton Was funny for decades.....He would just nee to get familiar with more then just their movies.

The life of Brian has one of the best scenes ever.

He’s not proposing to do everything that Monty Python did. The relevant question is:

How long would it be funny to have a bard in your D&D party casting insults in an outrageous French accent? I suspect no more than about five minutes.

I have to agree with Jay R. People doing Monty Python is infamous for making a DM's life miserable and grinding games to a halt.

Player: "I face the troll and say 'Nee!' "
DM: "Um", *rolls crit* " It has no effect. He eats you. Roll up another character."

Yet Black Knight ripoffs work far longer....

"it's only a flesh wound" can be overdone in streaks but is funny for years on end.

Thirded.

Now, people doing A Bit of Fry and Laurie is new and novel and should be encouraged at all times!

It was better.

What's new and novel is people making up their own material.
If you're not accustomed, it'll be dreadful at first. Of course. Nothing comes out perfect first time. But keep practising, and you can be the next Eric Idle.
