How Big is a Psicrystal?

Page 21 of the Expanded Psionics Handbook says it's "about the size of a human hand." But the illustrations on page 207 of the same book don't look to be anywhere near that size. Unless the hands in those images belong to giants?

How do you guys fluff these in your games?

Anywhere from 6 inches to a foot at its widest point and between 2 oz and a pound in weight. The image is inaccurate. If it were outside of those ranges, it being a diminutive creature would be in question and that's simply not the case.

Well, has that ever really stopped WotC? An iguana can be 7 feet long and is a tiny creature.
