Been watching through the old Gargoyles cartoon, and got the idea to make a race based on it.

The link to the race is found here (https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/H1Akwbs2r)

Well the race is too damn strong.

You get too many racial traits and most of them are good ones, you should cut some.

Also you could fly with heavy armor and that's a no no.

The flight speed is meant to function as more of a controlled fall, the idea being that while gliding you are able to control wear you go, which is best used as a weird flight speed, but I get what you are saying, if need be I can drop the flight part of the gliding from the equation, and just specify that you are able to steer where you are going.

As for the other abilities using detect balance, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1m1XvORwCqAwsBZJBJSzJ9-TAEMCUvOAW/edit#gid=1396957458, the score on the race comes out to be around the same level as the official races

I misread the climb speed I apologize. Nlw I am going through this spreadsheet to see how even the thought of this being balanced is possible.

Disadvantage on a lot of rolls in sunlight, the minus to Charisma, and being affected by spells that affect both monsters and humanoids as they are both humanoid and elementals

Ok after some reading and looking around this is "balanced" on paper.

In practice it's basically goliath+ you get all their traits and half the lizardfolk's traits. You should avoid both negative modifiers and also to put more than 6 features on any given race that lacks subraces.

A penalty to something you don't care about means a lot less than a bonus to something that you do.

Ultimately, Disney gargoyles were not meant to be balanced against baseline humans. That's kind of the point of a lot of urban fantasy critters. Ideally ecl would cover that, but this isn't 3.5.

These are fair points, I guess what I will do with that in mind is create something that has the feel I am going for and not worry as much about balance, since it's more of a fun idea, and would probably be used more for a one shot where all of the players were monstrous races, or gargoyles
