How does Rich decide what day to come back?

Rich returns on February 3rd, 2020. Do you think he bases that on the expected amount of time needed to make new comics, or is it just a nice cushion for a much needed break?

He doesn't usually make comics in advance but also I find this a little weird? I could tell you how I pick my vacations, but the answer is mostly "I don't" so I dunno.

I'm thinking he just said "Two months sounds about right for a hiatus" and was done with it, personally.

Give himself break from online comic to finish up/get sent off print comic.
Give himself a break from all work for Christmas/New Year.
Give himself time to get next book started and drawn.
Give himself extra leeway in case something unexpected happens.
I'm guessing he chose the first Monday in February because it gives him enough time to get everything done while still getting a Christmas break.
