View Full Version : Teamwork Feats on Undead Minions

Charnal Soldiers (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/charnel-soldiers/) lets you put any one Teamwork Feat (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/teamwork-feats) you know on mindless undead minions you control. As bonus feats, so you don't need them to meet prerequisites. However, since you must know the Teamwork feat to bestow, you do have to buy both that and Charnal Soldiers.

Note, too, that Charnal Soldiers doesn't make you pick the feat to share until you get control of the undead in question, so you can share different Teamwork feats with different undead, if you have more than one. Still, you probably want to be sparing in your choices, as feats are precious. This is, however, an interesting option for buffing your undead hordes.

But what are the best feats to take? What work best with minions? I don't know the answer, but I have some thoughts on a few Teamwork feats that seem like they'd be of use. I haven't rated them, just added some comments. Please let me know what, if any, strategies or builds you think would work with this sort of thing!



Charnal Soldiers - feats useful for minions to have, must take this once per feat to grant, though can grant differeng feats to different minions.

Ally Shield - gain cover (+4 AC) from minions throwing themselves in the way.

Bonded Mind - Essentially mental control over all undead minions in eyesight, which is pretty nice. Worth 2 feats, though...?

Broken Wing Gambit (requires Bluff, 5 ranks) - Useful in combination with Ally Shield to ensure that attacking the necromancer not only has a 20% greater chance to miss, but can provoke AoOs from the other nearby minions!

Callous Casting - useful if you have Destruction Retribution or (if you have minions not immune to cold damage) Lord of the Uttercold.

Friendly Fire (requires Precise Shot) - Have extra attacks and accuracy against foes, possibly even using attacks which don't risk serious damage to minions.

Intercept Charge - make minions prevent you from being charged.

Outflank (BAB +4) - +4 bonus for flanking, rather than +2.

Precise Strike - +1d6 precision damage when flanking with allies with this feat. Nice, could multiply high with sufficient minions.

Shake it off - up to +8 to saving throws for small and medium creatures. Possibly more for larger creatures surrounded by smaller ones.

Share Spells - Treat minions as familiars for "share spell" feature. Combine with Reach Spell to cast personal-only buffs at range on minions. Need a good list of spells for this to be worthshile. Shield? Would need to be sharing Bonded Mind via Charnal Soldiers, but not this one, ironically.

Special Delivery - make minions with Bonded Mind into "touchers" for your touch spells. Chill Touch seems like a good choice, here. Still only takes on Charnal Soldiers application, as the ally need only have Bonded Mind.

Take the Hit (requires BAB +6) - yet another way to make minions take damage, but requires two copies of Charnal Mind in order to give this feat to them, because it lets this feat's bearer take the hit for somebody with Bonded Mind. And you wouldn't want to have Bonded Mind and NOT give it to your minions, right? I suppose you could have "bodyguards" who don't have Bonded Mind and have this instead, while your other minions get Bonded Mind.

Trade Initiative - Actually a pretty good dirty trick, considering how important winning initiative can be for a caster. Surrounded by minions with this feat, you basically take the highest roll of all of them!

Volley Fire (requires Point Blank Shot) - This could get nuts with skeleton archers: +1 to hit on a ranged attack for every ally who has this feat who made a ranged attack at a target within 15 feet of your target!

Wounded Paw Gambit (requires Broken Wing Gambit) - Makes your ranged minions able to attack people who attack you or your bodyguard minions as an immediate action; pretty nice. Still only requires one Charnal Soldiers application, since you can just give this to your minions you want to use this gambit from range.
