So, this is a game I've gotten a bit sucked into lately. Chronicles of Esshar (https://chronicles-of-esshar.com/forum/index.php) is technically the third game in it's series, but it's basically just an expansion of the mechanics combined with a setting change each time so... In short it's an RPG, I hesitate to call it an MMORPG, because while in many ways it runs like one, it's got a player count of maybe 200-300 at most on any given day and runs according to some interesting mechanics.

The core mechanic being RPP, or Role Play Points. Basically in order to level up, rather than fighting NPC's or monsters, you have to type out stories. Sorta... you gather together with other players, and basically take it in turn to each write your characters piece of an improv roleplaying scene. Be it a fight, a noble ball, a dinner at a seedy pub. And for every post, the game accounts a certain amount of activity points. The exact amount isn't really important, and the admin's don't tend to talk about the exact ratios, because they prefer scenes progress naturally rather than be just points farming.

With each point you gain, you grow in level, and gain spendables to purchase spells, which you can use in fights. Or if you prefer, you can also purchase crafting skills to become either an Alchemist or an Artificer (Sorta a combined Enchanter/Blacksmith.) which can convert raw materials into usable goods like weapons and armor. As well as gaining stat points to split between the different stats. Though with the changes they made this time around you're basically just choosing between whether you want to max out Agility or max out Mana/Spirit.

Anyway, anyone else played this?
