I really liked the spheres of power system for pathfinder. It lets casters specialize in, for instance, being a pyromancer, a telepath or biomancer in a way that the vancian magic system just doesn't allow.

sammyp03 already made a great 5e conversion of the system over on reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/UnearthedArcana/comments/62wc9o/spheres_of_power_5e_conversion_wip/) and while that conversion did a bunch of really cool stuff, it felt kind of incomplete (ie. it was missing a lot of talents, it was still using pathfinder terminology in a bunch of places, etc) and I didn't like some of the changes it made to the original SoP, so I decided to make my own conversion using the same framework.

For now I've only done the Alteration sphere and a few random classes, but I plan on doing conversions for at least some of the other spheres and the remaining classes relatively soon(-ish).

In the mean time I'd like to know what you all think.

Given that the primary function of the Alteration Sphere is to turn into a giant monster and kill things, it's kind of tricky to balance it such that an alteration specialist is good in combat without stepping on the toes of the more punchy classes too much. The goal was for a transformed sphere caster to be about on par with a fighter of similar level, but with the caster using long rest resources to transform and needing to use an action at the start of combat to get ready (balanced out by having more flexibility and out of combat utility).
