Suppose you are the BBEG, and you are preparing plenty of magical traps on your fortress (glyph of warding and symbol). Unless your fortress is totally critter-free, you would want to exclude the possibility of it being triggered by beasts, wouldn't you? Even if you don't care about killing the vermin, it will still save you a lot of money. Now, enter the group of adventurers, all with the beast type from the Mask option from the Nystul's Magical aura spell

Of course, this is not full protection, as there are still triggers that would exclude beasts naturally anyway (such as reading, opening doors, etc), but it still is an extra level of protection from triggers where you would not expect, like in a corridor.

This is a nice add-on effect of casting Nystul regularly on your party, though. Cast it straight for 30 days, always choosing the "appear non magical" option of the False Aura effect, and add the beast Mask to all your party. With more time, you can even make all the party's magical items appear non magical permanently as well.

Assuming that that's the way that the glyph-caster chose to exclude rats etc. But they could also, for instance, have set the glyph to react to creatures of Small size or larger, or to creatures that appear humanoid, or any number of other possible triggers that wouldn't be fooled by Nystul's.
