Dread is a survival horror RPG system that revolves around a Jenga tower and very strong story telling.

I am going to run my first session tonight for a 1 shot and it occurred to me that the proper way to write a session for this is around "scenes" not encounters. Since I wrote up everything for myself I thought I might as well drop it here for the community since it cost me barely any effort if anyone is interested.

Scene 1: Introduction
Music: Tales of a Jedi Knight and Learn About the Force – From Star Wars a New Hope.
A rattle shakes everyone from their listlessness, the 3 hour tram ride to the Cortosis mines is unusually bumpy today. Today crew 1313 is heading to a new dig spot, a long abandoned mine shaft to be recovered after centuries of neglect, this spot hasn’t seen work since the ancient Sith wars of the Old Republic.
Having a rare moment of consciousness on the ride you begin to examine one another, you have worked together as a crew for 3 months but rarely have the time to speak to one another over the noise of your Cortosis jacks banging away.

<Each player introduces themselves visually, only describe what others would see about you>
A brief moment to Talk:
<Each player now has a chance to talk to one another if they so choose, if not move to the next scene>
Scene 2: A New Mine
Music: Maz’s Counsel
The tram shudders to a halt, ancient gears groan and creak as machinery older than the republic itself strains to do the same job it has for millennia. The mines are dark and time has allowed the caverns to reclaim themselves. The Cortosis here grows thick yet brittle, it is dusty yet colorful. There are deposits of Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, White, and Pink aside from the typical faded grey.
<Offer a pull check from any force sensitive to determine that these are indeed Kyber Crystals and not Cortosis deposits>
<Offer a pull check to successfully harvest any color of Kyber Crystal>
Everyone begins clearing the mine and getting to work, but it seems that the caverns were not left empty, Mynocks emerge in a swarm and begin to attack your power drills.

Music Change: The Abduction

<Combat Ensues, there are 2 Mynocks for each player, any successful pull action will kill them, progress to next scene after all Mynocks are dead or chased away>

Scene 3: The Mine stricken back

Music: The Starkiller

After the commotion with the Mynocks dies down, Crew 1313 notices that a portion of the cave collapsed when you all started drilling. It reveals a path down into what seems to be a manufactured hall complete with metal walls, barely visible at the end is a circular room with specific geometric boxes, they appear to be tombs. There is a strange aura in the air, those of you with force sensitivity detect that this place is strong in the force.
<Ask them, What do you do?>

Music: Battle of Heroes
As you make your way down the hall a droid rattles to life, this quadrupedal war droid has thick armor and many arms that wield a number of blasters and an electro staff.
<Combat ensues, after the fight there is one blaster attached to the droid for each non-force sensitive character>
<A successful pull check identifies this as an Ancient Sith War Droid>
Scene 4: Return to the Sith

Music Change: Palpatine’s Teachings
After defeating the droid you all finally have a moment to take a closer inspection of the tombs, these are ancient Sith burial places. A single Lightsaber adorns each tomb.
<Any force sensitive player may claim a lightsaber and spend a moment in meditation to swap out the Kyber Crystal with the color of their choice if they harvested one earlier.>
There is a strange dark metal cube in the center of the room near a data pad. Simply touching the data pad causes the feint blue image of a dark robed individual to appear above it:

“This is Darth Angron of the Eternal Covenant. My brothers and I have traveled far to the Outer Rim Territory, to a planet called Apatros. We have found it! The ancient Holocron of Darth Bane! We have committed ourselves to the teaching found within, I will keep you informed on our progress”
The Data Pad flickers and the Next Entry automatically begins to play
“Such power! Such knowledge! Darth Bane knew many rituals and now so do we! I feel we even have the potential to create life itself from the force!”
The data pad flickers to the next entry.

“They are perfect! Dark side abominations that can suck the life energy from any living thing! We have named them the Tuk’ata The perfect killing machines! We are bending them to our will, the youngest of our order seems to have the natural talent for communing with our beasts, we have placed the welp in charge of tending to them.
The data pad flickers to the next entry.

“The rule of two. This seems to be Bane’s final teaching. One to embody the power and one to crave it. Dedicated to this teaching we have determined to settle who shall be the dark lord of the sith through ritual combat first thing in the morning. The welp took off with the Tuk’ata sometime this afternoon. It is no matter, Once I slay my brothers and become the Dark Lord I will hunt the coward down.”

The Last data entry.
<breathing heavily> “I have done it, I have slain my brethren and become the new dark lord of the sith… but my victory is short lived. That brat tricked us, he sealed us in this tomb… I alone remain with our pets, the perfect killing machines…” His lightsaber ignites “but they no longer heed my commands… that Darth Plagueis… he proved to be the wisest of us… he will carry our order into the future”. The view of the data pad reels backwards to reveal the visage of Darth Angron surrounded on all sides by huge hulking canine like beasts with glowing eyes and large fangs. The final entry ends with Darth Angron being ripped to shreds.

Scene 5: The Phantom Menace
Music Change: The Tusken Camp and the Homestead at marker 2:40, Followed by The Asteroid Field
The group begins to look around frantically, you all begin to see red eyes flicker in the darkness. Into full view steps a Tuk’aka looming about 3 meters tall.
<Ask specifically if anyone takes the Holocron>
<The Party runs, there is no fighting these things, each attempt to fight them results in a pull with no significant improvement to the situation>

<One Party member must volunteer a pull at each scene change in the chase>
Scene Changes for the Chase:
• The Party runs back into the hallway, where you felt you had plenty of room to move before, the hallway now feels claustrophobic, the short path now feels like a mile-long treacherous road. The Tuk’ata quickly at your heels.
• The Party bursts out into the mine where another tram of miners has already unloaded and begun drilling. “There you are” begins a Sullustan miner as you run past him when he notices the ferocious killing machines running behind you. He starts to run but is instantly caught in the savage maw of the beast.
• The party makes it into the tram where another miner hits the launch button right as the last of you enters the small cable suspended cart.
Scene 6: Attack of the Tuk’ata (First of 2 boss fights)

Music: Duel of Fates

A Tuk’aka lands on top of the cart right as it takes off.
<begin Combat, This Tuk’ata needs 3 successful pulls to kill>

Scene 7: Revenge of the Sith

Music: Imperial Attack

After the harrowing battle the tram travels for about an hour when one of you notices an imperial star destroyer exits hyperspace above the planet. 30 minutes later the tram is stopped near a high plateau where there is some sort of checkpoint. Pearly white storm troopers emerge from the sides of the tram and begin to escort everyone single file onto the rock face just a meter below.
<They begin to interrogate the group asking what is going on, if they see the holocron they will attempt to seize it, any attack on the storm troopers succeed without any need of a pull check>
Scene 7: The Dark Lord Awakens

Music: The Imperial March

After dealing with the somewhat frail storm troopers a black imperial shuttle lands at the end of the final confrontation. Black Death Troopers emerge with blasters at the ready.

At the top of the shuttle the interior is too dark to see into.

Music Switch: Darth Vader Breathing Effects, Movie Soundtracks (on repeat 1)

Breathing is heard followed by the ignition of a red lightsaber menacingly highlighting the visage of Lord Vader. The mechanical titan begins his descent slowly down the ramp towards mining group 1313. His hand extends and the nearest player is immediately grasped in the force and thrust before him.
<A force sensitive character is given the chance to make a successful pull check to break the hold>

Lord Vader begins to choke you “I sensed something strong in the force here… it clings to you like a shroud. Tell me what you have found”
<Make a pull check, if the player dies Vader will move onto the next player in rotation>
Vader will continue to ask questions until he either receive the holocron or every player is dead or begins to resist.

<After 5 pulls the Tuk’ata will emerge and begin to rip the Death Troopers to shreds>

Options:
If Vader receives the holocron he will order the extermination of everyone left alive.
If the group stalls for 5 pulls, the Tuk’ata will emerge, killing the troopers and engaging Vader.
If the group runs to the Tram they will have the option to go back to the mines or head to the main base

Scene 8: The Last Chance

Music: Hyperspace – London Symphony Orchestra

As the Tram takes off, some of you look back to see the Tuk’ata surround Vader, with a push 5 of them fall off the plateau you just left. With a clenched fist you see another Tuk’ata crumple like a piece of aluminum. He turns to watch you leave. His hand extends and there is a grinding heard and sparks seen from above as the tram begins to move backwards towards him. But this time he is alone. No troopers to aid him and still a few Tuk’ata engaging him as he fights the mechanisms of the tram desperately trying to take you away from the dark lord.

A Tuk’ata sinks its massive fangs deep into the arm of Vader emitting a gout of sparks. You can hear Vader give out a shrill groan in anger. With a massive pull the Tram break free of the cable and crash lands back at the feet of Vader. He then turns his attention to the Tuk’ata and impales it on the end of this lightsaber.

<The final battle begins, either defeat the weakened Vader or attempt to escape on his shuttle.>

Scene 9: The Rise of Victory

Music: The Immolation Scene

Victory: With Vader indisposed by the Tuk’ata, you pilot his Shuttle away successfully evading capture and keeping the Holocron of Darth Bane out of the hands of Vader and the Emperor. You will always remember the fallen members of 1313 and never forget what their sacrificed means to the Galaxy.
You hear something feint even across a vast distance of space, it’s a pathetic “Noooooooooooooo”

Defeat: With the last of you fallen, your final view is of Vader slowly walking into his ship with Holocron in hand. What horrible knowledge will this artifact grant the emperor? Before you can finish the thought Lord Vader takes one final look back over his shoulder, sensing your final breath he says “All too easy” and clenches his fist as your heart explodes and you die.
