Hi there. I'm currently in a campaign with another 4 players (a halfling rogue, a human ranger/fighter, an elf ranger, and a gish wizard/fighter... yep, no cleric). We started at level 3, and recently reached level 4, and I'm starting to wonder which would be the best path for my wizard.

I'm a strongheart halfling, and a specialist conjurer.

STR 6
DEX 12
CON 14
INT 19
WIS 10
CHA 10

Feats chosen so far:

Lvl 1: Collegiate wizard (I liked it, and I wanted it for my backstory)
Lvl 1, racial bonus: Improved initiative
Lvl 1, in exchange of my familiar (as a houserule): Extend spell (had to be a wizard feat, though)
Lvl 1, wizard: Scribe scroll
Lvl 3: Spell focus: Conjuration

Lvl 5: Sculpt spell (?)

I like to be on the back, and leave the killing to the other players, while I try to make the battle easier for them. So far, it's been good, but now I'm doubting again about what to go for in long term. For prestige classes, the sources we can work with are: PH, PH2, DMG, PGtF, Complete Arcane, Adventurer, Divine and Warrior. Nothing more. Not sure how much will this campaign last, though. It might be until level 20, or until level 10.

I've been thinking about going Wizard 7 > Fatespinner 4 > Wizard 9 > Archmage 5
Another option that has crossed my mind is: Wizard 7 > Fatespinner 4 > Loremaster 9
Finally, an even more simple one: Wizard 7 > Loremaster ? > ?

I'd have loved to go with Mage of the Arcane Order, but my DM told me that, story wise, it was going to be somewhat odd, so I better went with another choice. Not sure if there's any prestige class that can suit my character and allows me to start prestige classing after level 5, instead of forcing me to go up to wizard leve 7.

Any advice on which path should I choose?

If you want to heal (healing is conjuration and within reason for a Halfling)

Take a cleric level (cloistered is better for you, but requires ua), use cleric's spontaneous casting rules to sacrifice prepared wizard spells to cast cure spells of the same level.

You'll now be able to take the class Geomamcer to gain increased bab, saves, skills, and hd, while progressing wizard spellcasting and being able to turn higher and higher level spells into cure spells of the same level. You'll be able to cast your wizard spells in armor, and ignore arcane spell failure.

However this doesn't seem very wizardly.
That's all from phb and complete divine.

Yeah, I'm not interested in healing, so far we've been doing good with healing belts and a few potions. And I prefer to keep things more wizardly, more on the bookworm side.

As a specialist, you have an easy option with Master Specialist. I'd ask if you can talk with your DM to allow Complete Mage, as you're already playing with most of the Complete Series and it's a very thematic PrC. You can pick the first level at 4, and it gives some nice abilities along with prereqs for Archmage later on. It's a great PrC to stay for 3+ levels, with many break points to ease you into other PrCs. If you do choose to go all 10 levels, you'll get off it at level 13, still with plenty of levels to top off Archmage or any other 5-level PrC, and you'll get the amazing Major School Esoterica for 3/day free quickening of any Conjuration spell with a standard action cast time.

Other than that, the Loremaster is a good PrC because it doesn't require too much investment you wouldn't already be doing, so I'd just suggest grabbing 2 levels of any PrC for levels 6 and 7 just to not waste them on empty Wizard levels.

No can do. Master Specialist would've probably been my first choice, for sure. But our DM works only with books published in Spanish and, sadly, Complete Mage isn't one of them. It wouldn't be the first time I ask him if I can use something from English sources, and he doesn't allow it, so I see it as an easy no-no from him.

I like Loremaster. It doesn't seem that powerful, but I don't think it's needed, either. I think I'm already the most min-maxer of the group by far, and I go with a wizard, so I don't want to make a super OP character that puts the others to shame. Something correct, even if not really powerful, would be fine. I wouldn't like to "waste" 2 levels on the wizard, but with Mage of the Arcane Order off the table, I just don't know what to pick. Fatespinner looks nice, too, but it starts at character level 8 as well. I've considered Geometer, but I don't really like it that much, and it starts at character level 7, too.
