Is disjunction different enough?

If not, how does it resist disjunction fluff-wise?

Mordenkainen's Disjunction says it ends the magical effect "as a Dispel Magic spell does"... I don't know if that means it's the same as casting Dispel Magic...

Also, you can't use disjunction on (Su) abilities, either. (Note that they're excluded from the effects that can be disjoined.)
