I have http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscript bookmarked which used to take me to the latest comic, however now i get a 404 error when using it.

The 'new' link and the latest comic 'arrow' point to a specific comic which means i can't bookmark those now. Anyone know of a link i can bookmark which will take me to the latest comic?

This was posted in the Board and Site Issues forum a little bit ago. The answer:

That link was technically dead over a decade ago. It only redirected to the real redirect, https://www.giantitp.com/comics/ootslatest.html.

Came here with the same question. Changed the bookmark. Am happy now.

Thank you!

You mean there is a link that doesn't need to be changed every time? when I click that link I get to:

https://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1194.html

and I'm pretty sure that does need to be updated every time since it has the page number in it.

Thanks Peelee!

halfeye, you need to edit your bookmark to the link https://www.giantitp.com/comics/ootslatest.html if you just click it, it redirects you to the latest comic so you can't bookmark it after clicking it.

How do I do that in Firefox? if I click on edit this bookmark, it shows me the filename of the bookmark, but not it's actual contents, which is kind of useless.

In firefox: right click on bookmark. Go to properties. Highlight current "location" box. Replace what you currently have with https://www.giantitp.com/comics/ootslatest.html

Thanks, that seemed to work.

You can also right click the link above and select "Bookmark This Link" (Firefox) or "Add Link to Bookmarks..." (Safari) to add it as a new link (and then delete any old ones, if applicable).

Thanks for that too.

I wonder why they have an "edit bookmark" item that doesn't let you edit the bookmark?

So you can change the label of the bookmark to be more accurate if the site changes. Web addresses have gotten complicated enough it was easier to move that into an automatic process instead of manual.

Or that's what I think happened.

I have been reading OOTS since 2003, somewhere about Strip 23 I think. It took me months to figure out giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscript which worked for decades. Thank you for posting the updated link.

P.S. Forum search is restricted to registered users, I only joined the forum in order to perform a search for "ootscript". The solution to this little problem is NOT intuitively obvious to the casual observer. Perhaps a link on the site for us long time readers currently lost-in-the-weeds?

So people who want to change the name of the bookmark don't overwrite the URL with "Fluffy Kitty pics <3" would be my guess

Fun fact, there is a website called blogtrottr which will email you whenever a new comic is out, if you want.
