Hi, I would have some free time the next months, and I would like to try some online play. I was going to go for WoW or LOTR, but I would like also to try NWN II. I read a bit about some persistent worlds for it, so it looks like a good combination.
Anyone here (as I come to trust the people here for their good taste  ) knows of a nice world for it?
Thanks

I can't say anything about NWN2 persistent worlds, except that I heard that due to the resource draws of the game, it was difficult for servers to host modules with more than a few smallish areas. I'm not entirely sure of the veracity of this claim, as I have yet to purchase NWN2... but two great Persistent Worlds for NWN1 were City of Arabel and Escape from the Underdark. Great communities, and if you're lucky you'll find the real roleplaying. Be ready for the most frustrating gameplay of your life as it will take you hours and hours to level up twice or three times, and get ahold of enough gold for a suit of armor and a weapon, and it will all be undone by a single lucky hit by a friggin Kobold with a crossbow on a random footpath somewhere. Not that that hasn't happened to me once or twice... (it's more like a dozen or more times)

For some reason it's still amazingly addictive and fun.

The biggest problem right now with NWN2 online play is the instability of the program. The DM client can easily crash the server, and even players can bring it down by doing certain things. There a list of top 10 gameworlds (http://nwvault.ign.com/fms/TopRated.php?content=nwn2gameworlds) on NWVault.

I've played on a few PWs, and world size is already pretty big on most of them. For example TFR (http://www.forgottenrealm.ca/) (The Forgotten Realm) is a low-restriction RP server that is really good for beginners. At the moment it is not very highly populated, possibly due to MOTB being out, but it used to be brimming full with up to 60 people almost all the time only a month ago. To play on TFR you need to download the Audolo client that downloads all the necessary files.

I've got NWN2 and MotB on order.

Sundren (http://www.sundren.org/forum//index.php) seems fairly good, if you like RP and FR lore. It will be where I'm going to try when I get the game. There are still a lot of them in development and I'm really waiting for Vives2.

I'd be warry of putting too much faith into the top PW listing on the Vault. Most votes tend to be 10 (if the voter is playing there) or 1 (if the voter didn't like it or got banned).

They did staff reviews for NWN1 PWs, but even those really depend if you're looking for leveling, a good module to play or a RP world.

If you're looking for roleplay, visit The Known Lands (http://knownlands.com/). The people there are really friendly and great to play with. The party-system is also really interesting, and gives it a sort of 'table-top dnd feel'. And don't be scared by the application form :smallwink:

Here-here! I would also recommend The Known Lands.
