So this is an alternate sorcerer class feature I came up with to replace metamagic for those who want the sorcerer to be a simpler, blaster type caster.

The objectives are to be fairly balanced, offset the number of sorcerer spells known by not needing to invest in as many damaging spells and allowing the typical elemental mage to be much easier for sorcerers. Let me know what you think.

Raw arcana(replaces metamagic):
Starting at level 3 you learn to harness raw arcana into a destructive force directly without using structured spellcasting.

As an action you can cast a spontaneous spell by expending one or more sorcery points and choosing a point within 120ft of you. Choose an element from acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, or thunder. Each creature in a 10ft radius must succeed on a dexterity saving throw or take 1d8 damage of the type specified for each sorcery point spent. A creature that succeeds on their saving throw takes only half damage.

Arcane shapes:
Starting at level 10 whenever you use raw arcana instead of damaging creatures in a 10ft radius sphere you can deal damage in one of the following shapes:
* 30ft cone
* 100ft line
* 2 10ft cubes within 60ft

Explosive force:
Starting at level 17 whenever a creature fails a saving throw against your raw arcana they are pushed back 10ft from the point of origin and knocked prone.
