Hey all.

Been on a long time, and gaming a while. Whipped up a little system at home for the kids in my neighborhood. Ended up spending a bit of time on it.

Figured I'd share and see what everybody else thinks!

I wanted something that had simple, intuitive basics, but kept DnD’s emergent tactics and complexity (not full magic tea party). Something easy for kids to learn, but still fun for adults, that could scale as my son gets older.

So I built Luck of Legends (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sXgV-6krGJYq7DrYVSIkGVAKhFfohu-B/view?usp=sharing) – here’s why it’s cool:

Simple, flexible resolution mechanic (even a 5-year-old can get it!)
ONLY three possible modifiers to a roll (no more adding/subtracting!)
Better odds for resolutions (I explain in the doc if you’re a nerd like me)
Conditional rules on cards (no more endless book-keeping!)
Story control mechanics (players can change the plot!)
Easier for the GM (quick modifiers, easy enemies)
Keep the fun of tactics and character design!

Here are the problems:

You need a ton of dice;
You need a ton of cards;
The GM and players will need a good sense of story and will have to be flexible!

Anywho, if you're at all curious, please let me know what you think! It's a work in progress (I have files of pre-gen Talent, Trouble, and Trick cards I'm always tinkering with), so any feedback would be lovely.

Hope you and yours are safe and well, and staying that way in this tough time. Nothing like a crisis to bring you back to gaming.

Cheers,

JJ
